CHAPTER FIFTEEN ; THE BOOK OF SHADOWS
season 2 episode 7
———"HERE IS YOUR COFFEE, YOU GRUMP." Sam announced as he placed down a steaming hot cup of coffee just the way she liked, Selene didn't like the long car rides but she was getting used to them. Coffee made it bearable, and until she's had that—she isn't the nicest person to be around. Selene took it from his hands as he sat down across from her and Dean, handing Dean his coffee as well as placing his own down in front of him.
"You are an angel." Selene hummed out, grabbing it and lifting it up to take a sip.
"It's—" Sam tried to warn, but she already took a sip from it and nearly dropped it on the table as her mouth burned up. "—hot."
The boys laughed at her as tears swelled up in her eyes, her face going a light shade of red as she dropped her head into her hands. Dean brought a hand to her back, rubbing in soothing circles while still laughing along with Sam. Selene urged them to go on, not wanting this embarssing tension to be on her any longer.
"Anthony Giles. A Baltimore lawyer, working late at his office." Dean started surprising his laugh, passing the newspaper to Sam, "Check it out."
Sam searched his eyes for the message, scanning the words as he read out loud, "His throat was slit, but the room was clean. Huh, no DNA, no prints." That seemed to be the part that caught his attention, seeing as it was hard for someone to leave behind nothing—but still wasn't impossible.
"Best part, they had securitiy cameras covering every inch of that place. Not one of them caught a glimpse of our Mr. Killer." Selene told him after her mouth had stopped burning immensely. As she leaned back in her chair, Dean stretched out an arm around the back of it. His arm lightly grazing her but never fully meeting her, his presence alone was enough for her to feel comfortable with it.
That's when Dean started to say, "So either somebody tampered with the tapes—"
"—Or it's an invisible killer." Sam finished as he nodded his head, understanding that they might have a case on their hands.
"My favourite kind." Dean smirked.
Selene leaned forward on the table, "So, what do you say Sam? Want to check it out?" Selene asked him, raising her brows as she was eager for a hunt. Wanting to redeem herself for all the times she had been taken and injured. She's gotten stronger, hell—she even has a little more muscle now after the intensive work outs Sam has her doing with him.
"Yeah, might as well." Sam nods his head, and Selene grabs her coffee and the newspaper from Sam's hand and gets up—eager to get this show on the road. Dean and Sam follow behind her as they gather up their own things and have to speed up their pace to catch up.

The three of them decided to go see Anthony's wife, Karen. They dressed in their suits, pretending to be the insurance company here to conduct their own investigate. Karen who was so distraught didn't bother to question it, only picked up the papers Selene passed her as she tried wiping away the tears.
"I am sorry for your loss, ma'am." Selene told her, putting a comforting hand over top of hers that was visibly shaking. Karen seemed to appreciate that and gave her a kind smile through the painful tears.
Sam, who sat beside Selene, spoke up and asked gently, "If you could just tell us anything you remember about the night your husband died?"
