CHAPTER FIFTY-TWO: CROSSING THE LINE
season 3 episode 7
———

THE THREE HAD MOVED ONTO THE NEXT HUNT, which is how they found themselves walking through the empty factory late at night. Dean led while Sam and Selene followed closely behind, keeping an eye open for any threats. That's when they all spotted a trail of blood, their eyes followed it—seeing at the end was a man on the ground bleeding out.

They all rushed towards his side, Selene and Sam bent down on either side of him to examine his injuries. That's how they saw the giant hole in the man's neck, given to him by the vampire they were in the midst of hunting.

Dean was quick to ask, "Where is she, where'd she go?" The man uses his eyes to gestured down the empty hall, and without wasting another second Dean was rushing off. Selene made a move to stop him for a second, but as he slipped away, she focused her attention on the dying man.

Seeing as Selene was closer, she wrapped her hands around his throat to hold in the blood that was pouring from it. She felt the warm and thick liquid coat her hands, she turned her head towards Sam as urged him to call the police. They could still save this man, and that's what Sam did.

Turning to look back down at the man, his eyes stared up at her in fear—not of her, but of death. Death that was lurking over her shoulder, Selene held tighter to stop the blood from oozing between her fingers. It felt as if she was trying to prove herself, to prove that death doesn't follow her, that she can save a live.

That's when they hear Dean shouting from the other side of the factory, they knew it meant nothing good. It wasn't a scared shout, more of a taunting yell, and they both knew that Dean was being as reckless as he could be. That's when Selene and Sam shared a look, and she nods her head confirming to him that she has this handled from here.

"It's gonna be okay," Selene reminded him, keeping her voice calm and trying to sound reassuring as best as she could. The man's hand shot up to Selene's, as if trying to hold her there and scared she'd leave. Selene remained there, not daring to move a muslce.

Not until the police arrived along with the ambulance, when they showed up they took the victim away from Selene. Her hands were covered in blood as well as her jeans from kneeling in the pool of blood. As she looked down at it, her eyes lingering on the sight for a few long moments, there was so much blood on her hands.

"Lena, come on. We have to go." Sam put his hand on her arm, urging her towards the Impala. They had stayed around to make sure that the man would survive, mostly because Selene wouldn't leave until she knew. But as she did that, the boys had to act casual as if there wasn't a vampire in their trunk.

Hearing his voice brought Selene from her thoughts, making her look at him and nod a few times. Blinking herself back to reality as she followed him to the car, they had a job to do. It's best they get it done with.

They had gone back to their motel, but it's wasn't for the luxury of sleeping, it was to hold their newly captured vampire. Who they currently had tied to a chair in the middle of the room, she was struggling against her restraints and pleading to the three hunters before her to let her go.

"Where's your nest? Sam asked first, ignoring her pleas and getting to the point.

She just looks at them confused, tears swelling in her eyes as she is totally lost as to what is happening. Dean speaks up sternly, trying to get things moving, "Your nest. Where you and your bloodsucking pals hang out?
