CHAPTER THIRTY-THREE; FIGHTING A LOSING BATTLE
season 2 episode 15
———

STARING AT THE OLD BLACK WODDEN DOOR, with the paint chipping off and worn down, Selene felt a sense of familiarity. The rest of the house was small, a red brick house with overgrowing grass from most parts of it. The rest of the neighbourhood was all new houses and modern ones, but not this one—this one never changed.

On the door a sign hung in the middle of the door that read, 'AGNES MORNE IS OUT OF BUSINESS' Selene tilted her head, the sign looked like it had been there forever, it wasn't a recent thing—it's been there for years.

This place brought back memoires, a memory Selene thought she had long forgotten. As a child, she was brought to this very place, this is where the psychic told her parents she was the spawn of evil—leading to her parents hating her.

This was the start of her downfall, the start of the tragic events that tore her family apart. Selene never thought of coming back here, but here she was—to restore the family it broke.

Selene raised her hand to the door, knocking on the door three times loudly. The sound echoed in the house a little, and after a second there was a woman's voice inside that shouted, "No one's here—go away!"

"Uh—I'm here for the psychic!" Selene replied, a nervousness in her voice.

"Read the sign! She's out of business!"

Selene looked back at the sign, still—she ignored it. "She was friends with my mom, um—my name's Selene, Selene Erwin. I just really need to talk to her—"

The door abruptly opened, and in the door stood a woman who was a little shorter than Selene. She had head of curly black hair that was pulled back into a messy bun, in her hair was sprinkles of white, and new wrinkles in her face, showing that she was aging. Though Selene still recognized her, and she felt like she was teleported back to her childhood.

"Selene?" The woman's voice sounded the same, a little rasp to it as Agnes looked up at Selene. Her eyes wide and in surprise, staring at her red hair and green eyes. "What are you doing here?"

There was no beating the around the bush, neither of them were friends but Agnes knew the truth—more than anyone. Here, she didn't need to pretend.

"I need answers and you're the only one who can give them to me." Selene spoke sternly, and she watched closely as Agnes' face barely change, instead of being surprised she sorta of—expected this. As if she had been waiting for this moment, and now that it was finally here, she was just going to accept it.

"You best come in, child," Agnes spoke calmly as she turned away from the door and walked further into her home, Selene hesitantly followed inside. Closing the door behind her and taking in the new atmosphere, it was different. IT was messier and less presentable, as if she stopped caring. "Take a seat."

Agnes gestured to a chair at the table as they walked into the kitchen, Agnes moved to the counter, her back to Selene who was sitting down at the table. Selene looked around, inside didn't feel familiar, it had a whole new vibe to it. It didn't feel like the psychic that ruined her life, this felt like a woman who had her own life ruined.

"It's been a long time, I didn't know when you'd be coming by." Agnes spoke, her voice raw and chilling as she turned around finally. Holding a cup of tea as she moved across the kitchen and sat down across from Selene. Sliding the cup towards Selene, "Here, the drive must've been long."

Selene grabbed the cup, it was hot in her hands but it didn't bother her, made her feel warm. The drive was long, she had never driven that much before. Dean had been teaching her, and she couldn't believe that he gave her his precious baby to drive. Yet, when he saw the look on her face and how serious this was for her, he let her go. He even asked Baby to take good care of Selene—which she did, they both got here safely.
