CHAPTER TWENTY-FIVE ; THAT'S A PROMISE
season 2 episode 10
———ONE MINUTE EVERYTHING CAN BE FINE but the next, someone can go missing. In this case, it was Sam Winchester. A few days ago, Selene woke up and found an empty bed beside her, the odd part was that Sam's stuff was gone. She knew he had left willingly when she had called Sam and thankfully he did answer, but all he had to say to her was, "I have to do this alone."
For the past few days, Selene and Dean have been trying to find the younger Winchester. But he was good at hiding, and if he didn't want to be found—no one will find him. Sam had taken off because of a conversation him and Dean had, and Sam seems to think that Dean believes his brother will turn into an evil killer. So, when Sam had a vision, he took it on alone.
The longer Selene and Sam were apart, Selene felt less and less like herself. It was like she was missing her other half, because she was. Sam was her other half, and without him she felt cold and empty inside. There was a absence that only he could fill and because of that, it was creating a tension between her and Dean—one that was already there because of the conversation a few nights before.
So not only was Selene dealing with the absence of her best friend, but she was also dealing with the absence of her boyfriend. It was almost to overwhelming, her hands hadn't stopped shaking since this moment.
"Try Ellen, see if she heard anything from him." Selene told Dean, as she stood from the chair in the motel and made her way towards the bathroom. Dean didn't say a word as he reached into his pocket and grabbed the phone, and Selene locked herself in the bathroom.
It wasn't that she needed to get away from Dean, but she did. Only because he couldn't watch what she was about to do.
Selene sat on the edge of the bathtub, rubbing her hands on her thighs as she braced herself for what it was she was about to do. She knew what she was going to do was going to have a price to pay, but there was no doubt in her mind that Sam was worth every bit of it—of her soul.
Selene closed her eyes, pulling out the photo she kept of her and Sam as she mumbled the words she had carved into her brain from the Book of Shadows. Selene's done a spell similar to this, when she wanted to spy on Sam and Dean during an interrogation, but that was when they were in the same building as her. Sam could be anywhere, it wasn't going to be as simple as it once was.
This was when Selene felt the words take over her body, pulling herself out of her body and taking her away. Selene continued to say the words as she felt wind on her face in the dark void she was wandering through. Waiting for the familiar feeling that is Sam, and she could feel it as she got closer and closer.
That the world came into colour again as she was standing inside another motel room, she's standing at the window facing out into the rainy night. It looked so similar to the one that she was in currently with Dean, the only difference was the large neon sign near the street that read, Blue Rose Motel—then...she heard his voice.
His voice a distant echo so faint it almost couldn't be heard, but at the same time it was like a ringing in her ear so loud she couldn't ignore. When she turned, she saw him—finally. Sam sitting on the edge of the bed with a woman as they talked, she couldn't pick apart their words but she could hear Sam's comforting voice as clear as day.
All Selene did was take one step forward almost out of habit, wanting to just run and hug him and beg him to come home. The second her foot touched the ground, it was almost like an earthquake that shook Sam to his core. Making his head turn over and look at her—directly at her.
Selene and Sam held intensive eye contact, and it felt like Sam was looking past her and into her soul—the one that was being chipped away slowly with each second that she was here. Selene once again feared that Sam saw her, and in the real world—it wasn't that he saw her but felt her presence. It wasn't that he was physically seeing her, but in his soul and bones he knew.
