Oh, and please read the authors note at the end of the chapter <3
Holding her breath tight, she stormed through the big double doors, and down the ramp. She searched through the room which was firstly clouded by tobacco smoke, pushing over muscular men and squeezing through women's with their thigh gap being the biggest part of their body. She felt bodies grind up against her in the middle class bar, unable to find who she was looking for. Over at the DJ booth, she saw the list of names up on the dock, and hid behind the stage until she was called.
“Beau and Paige, singing Little Bird?” The DJ asked. Paige peeked through the curtain, to see Beau clearly now, a guitar bag on his bag but he struggled to stand with his crutches.
“Were actually...” Beau began to tell the DJ that Paige wasn't there.
“Ready to start.” Paige demanded, pushing through the curtains. A band of wolf whistled screeched through the room as she posed in her dress. “If you are?” She asked Beau sincerely, turning to him. He nodded and hobbled onto the stage.
“Thank you.” He whispered as he passed her to get to the other stool that was set up on the stage. She smiled and nodded, helping him unpack his guitar.
“He played the intro, which Luke had been religiously teaching him the past week in case Paige did in fact turn up. She was impressed, she hadn't expected the guitar let alone for him to play it as well as he did seeing as he could only play one other song.
“Take this bird and, it's broken leg.” Paige began, her notes shaking as she tried to grasp the pitch.
“We can nurse it, she said.” Beau sang flawlessly in his deep, masculine voice.
“Come inside for, a little lie down with me.” Paige sang, less shaky this time.
“And if you fall asleep, it wouldn't be the worst thing.” Beau almost replied. They stared into each other's eyes as they sang so that Beau was playing the guitar self consciously. It seemed as if they sang to each other, as if every lyric related to them in some way.
“I'm sorry.” Beau mouthed as he played the outro.
“Me too.” Paige mouthed back.
The song finished and the crowd erupted in applause, as they rushed down the stairs, Paige helping him as he hobbled on his crutches. They sat down at the table packed with the Janoskian boys and Sally, as well as a girl Paige had never met before that was hanging off Skip like she was on the edge of a cliff.
“Whose that?” Skip asked.
“I don't know!” Skip exclaimed, proud of himself as he spun around and locked his lips against hers. Paige laughed at him, shocked.
“Paige.” Beau slipped his fingers through the gaps between hers. “Can we talk?”
“There's nothing to say.” Paige replied. “I have nothing to say, if you don't?” She asked, batting her eyelashes and bringing her face closer to his. He shook his head as their lips pressed against each other. The boys all clapped and cheered, and Paige bit her lip as she pulled away.
“Let's go home.” Beau whispered into Paige's ear. “I have something to show you.”
“What about the results?” Paige asked, laughing.
