Luke and Sally's hearts beat fast together as he held her close. He couldn't believe it. He had tried to hard to protect her, to make sure their baby did not get hurt. And now, and now this. The little boy, or the little girl inside of Sally was going to be gone forever and he felt like it was all his fault. Another doctor came in, an older one who was obviously way more experienced.

“Hi guys, I'm Dr Harren, I just need to check you over again Sally.” He told her. She nodded, tears still falling down her face. He was there for a few minutes, all of their eyes were glued to the baby monitor screen, as he searched for the baby. After a few minutes, he gasped.

“I found her!” He exclaimed. Sally began crying with happiness immediately, and you could tell if Luke was alone he would have as well.

“R..really?” Sally stuttered. The doctor nodded.

“She's extremely small, so you need to take good care of her, all of you. If you do, the baby is sure to survive.”

“She has a funeral to attend.. In New York City. We all do. Can she go?” Luke asked. The doctor seemed to think about this for a moment.

“I think she should stay at home, I don't think this is good conditions for the baby.” The doctor told her.

“I have nowhere to go.” Sally burst into tears.

“Mum!” Beau exclaimed. “Mum can look after you!”

“For two weeks?” Sally asked, raising her eyebrows. “Over Christmas?”

“Yeah, why not!? You're part of the family anyway! It's not like mum has got anyone to see anyway!” Luke said.

“Offensive much.” Beau muttered.

“Isn't she coming to Sam's farewell?” Sally asked, confused.

“No, she never knew Sam. We were on soccer camp, so the kids didn't come back at night. Only Beau saw Sam after camp, and Beau always went to Sam's house. And then they kind of drifted.” Luke told her. Beau looked down as Luke told the story, as if a part of the story was missing.

“Well, we will have to speak to Gina..” Sally trailed off. “I can always just stay by myself.”

“Mum wouldn't want that for the baby.” Luke told her. “It's her grandchild.”

“I don't want to put her out...” Sally trailed off again. She didn't understand why Gina would want to put up with her because she couldn't go on holiday. Everyone else she had known had just ran away.

“She's family. That's what they do.” Sally took a deep breath of relief. Family. It was like music to her ears.

“Alright then.” Sally agreed. The doctor, who everyone had been ignoring all of this time, finally cleared his throat for attention.

“Would you like a print of this scan?” The doctor asked. The couple nodded eagerly. He smiled.

“I'll be back in a second.” He told them, stepping out of the room.

“I'm going to miss you.” Luke told her.

“It looks like today is the last day for all of us.” Paige muttered. They all nodded in agreement.

A few moments later, the doctor returned with the photos. Sally held one of them and Luke held the other, and although they shared a room they wanted a photograph each. The doctor had also printed smaller photos which were perfect for wallets. Luke and Sally walked out of the hospital together, their arms wrapped around each other. Every few moments they would kiss each other, cherishing the last day they would have together.
