He heard Paige leave, talking to James as she went. Telling him that it was okay and that it wasn't anything to do with him. Tears fell, more and more frequently with every one that fell. He was so happy, ecstatic that she believed him. That she didn't think that he was evil. That she knew he wasn't one of them.

But he looked over to the bedside table, slowly creeping towards it. There was an item she had obviously not found, something he hoped she would never know about. He wanted to break it, but at the same time he wanted to know how long was left. It was the countdown. The countdown to when Paige would be murdered as well.

“So where does this leave us?” James asked as they sat in the car. They had received glares from both Mr and Mrs Sears on their way out but they boycotted them. Danny was important to both of them, but Paige's life was pretty important to her as well.

“I don't know. Back to the start, I guess.”

“And you have a week.” James said, hanging his head low. “We've failed.”

“Don't say that. We only fail when I die.” Paige told him fiercely.

“I'm... I'm sorry.”

“James it's fine. I'm sorry. There's just, a lot of stress on me at the moment.”

“I know, Paige. I'm here for you.”

“I know.” Paige replied. “We just have to take this one battle at a time. The next one being as soon as we step into my house.”

“W..what do you mean?” James asked, confused.

“Christmas with the Arrows family.” Paige smirked.

They pulled up at the house and James took a deep breath.

“I can go home for a few hours, if you want?” James suggested. “I don't want to be a burden on your family.”

“No, it's fine. They're so self centred, only my dad will recognise you and he won't mind.”

“But I didn't get them any presents. Oh god, this is a disaster.”

“Don't worry!” Paige exclaimed, getting out of the car. James nervously got out the other side, and they made their way over to the multi-million dollar mansion.

“Merry Christmas!” Brian cheered merrily, pulling Paige into a big hug.

“Merry Christmas sis!” Cameron said, pulling her into an even larger hug.

“Merry Christmas!” Angela chimed, giving her daughter a hug.

“And to you too James!” Brian said cheerfully, shaking James' hand.

“What is he doing here?” Cameron asked, sharing a disapproving look with Angela.

“I should go...” James trailed off, making his way over to the door.

“No!” Paige demanded. “He's going on the plane with us, he can spend the morning with us.”

“Welcome James!” Brian cheered. “I'm sorry, we weren't expecting you to join us, we don't have a gift.” Brian apologised.
