Skip sped incredibly fast through the town, swerving through cars at an immense speed. It was obvious he had only ever driven in drag races, only ever for a prize.
“Calm down!” Paige exclaimed. “We're driving on a suburban street!” She held her hand over the top of his, which gripped the gearstick and pushed it back into 4th gear. “Drive at this speed.” She told him, leaning over him, and turning the steering wheel quickly to dodge a dog on the road. “Or maybe, I should drive?”
She watched Skip's mouth as it opened and closed like a fish, no words coming out as he turned the wheel sub consciously. She wondered if he had felt the same sparks she had when she held her hand over his. She took deep breaths, trying to slow her heart down and stop it from pounding out of her chest.
The next 5 minutes of the car ride was silent, and Skip seemed to slow his driving down to a reasonable level. But there was something between the, something stronger then friendship. And they both knew it.
“I spy, with my little eye, something beginning with P!” Paige laughed.
“Are we really playing I spy?” Paige asked.
“Well, you're being quiet. Is there something you want to say?” Paige began freaking out.
“No!” She exclaimed, a little too quickly and a little too eagerly. “Why, have you?”
Skip thought for a second, wondering how to say what he was going to say.
“Yeah, I do...” He wondered how to word the sentence, he was so unsure of how to come across. Just then, they pulled up at the hospital. “I'll tell you in a minute. Do you remember what to do?” Paige nodded.
They checked the boot, to see if Gina had been the prepared mother she has. Luckily, she had, and had remembered to pack the bandages and crutches in the boot of the car. Paige expected that Gina would have figured it would have been too hard for Paige to go to Sam's house, and had packed the equipment.
10 minutes later, Paige hobbled into the hospital, 'assisted' with her crutches. A bandage had been wrapped tightly around her foot, and they had used purple eye shadow that Paige had found in the bottom of her bag when she was searching for a safety pin to give the foot discolouration, so that if anybody did ask to see it, it would look more realistic.
“Hi!” A chirpy 20-something year old receptionist greeted.
“Hey.” Paige replied, trying not to sound too happy.
“How may I help you?” The receptionist asked. Paige stumbled. “You're such a cute couple.” The man complimented. Paige blushed, they had not rehearsed this, she didn't know how to reply.
“Thank you man. You know, we're meant to be getting married in a few weeks.” Skip told the receptionist, wrapping his arm around Paige. Paige's eyed widened in surprise, although she tried not to make it obvious.
“Oh my god, that is adorable.” The receptionist complimented again.
“But she snapped her ankle, you see.” The receptionist held his hand on his heart and his face looked utterly gobsmacked. “So I was wondering if you could help me? You see, Dr Sanchez told us that he would take care of her specially, in a week after seeing him the swelling went down. Would you be able to get us an appointment?” Skip used his killer smile but the receptionist looked confused.
