“Why?” Beau demanded, folding his arms over his chest.

“Because we don't hate her, just because you guys broke up. What she did was horrible, but everyone makes mistakes. Plus, if we don't talk to her, you will. And you will only make things worse.” Beau nodded, he couldn't argue with that. He knew it was true, he was so hurt that he would act violently, demand he take her back. And then, she would never forgive him. She would never go back to him. Jai nodded to Luke, who nodded back, giving him a warning look so that their trip didn't end up like Paige and Dan's had. But Jai was so hopelessly in love with Ariana, that he would never even look at another girl like that.

2 hours had passed since the David Letterman interview, and although it had been hard Paige had managed to slip away from Danny and grab a taxi to the secluded coffee shop in a rough area a few miles out of town. She rubbed her palms together anxiously, taking another sip of dark tea.

“More tea?” A large woman asked quite aggressively, tapping her pen on her notepad.

“Bring me over a pot of it.” Paige told her. The woman nodded and walked away, smearing her greasy hands on her apron. Cigarette smoke wafted through the arm, clouding Paige's vision as she tried to look for her visitors through the large windows.

“Paige?” Jai asked, sneaking up behind her. She stood up in the booth, hugging Jai, and then Sally who hovered behind him.

“Have some tea.” Paige told them, as the waitress dropped it off onto the table. They smiled and pulled two cups from the silver dish, and filled it with tea. Paige cleared her through, trying to look busy as everybody looked around but did not speak a word. “So, how is everyone?” She asked.

“By everyone I expect you mean Beau?” Jai asked. Paige nodded, smiling slightly. “He watched your show tonight.”

“Really? Why?” Paige asked, confused.

“Because he misses you.” Sally elbowed him, she was confused. She had been told she had to lie to Paige and pretend that Beau was holding up fine. “No, Sally, I can't lie to Paige. Not in person anyway.” He turned back to Paige. “He's really hurting, which is understandable.” His tone harshened towards the end of his sentence.

“I know what I did was the most terrible thing I could imagine.” Paige confessed. “Why wont he talk to me?” Her voice was full of hurt.

“He doesn't want to fall for everything. He doesn't trust you like he used to.” Jai told her. “Or at least, I don't expect. That would be the only reason, so he can get over you.” A tear rolled down Paige's cheek.

“I don't want him to get over me.” Jai slid his hand across the table and gave her hand a comforting squeeze. She smiled gratefully.

“He doesn't want to get over you either. But Paige, maybe it's for the best?” Jai suggested. Paige slammed he fists on the table, so violently that her cup jumped in fright, spilling some of her tea onto the table.

“Don't say that!” She threatened.

“Calm down, Paige.” Jai coaxed, his voice pleading.

“I'm sorry.” Paige told them. “But I can't go through this, I can't loose somebody again.” She remembered Sam, and how she had lost him. Her first love. There was not a day that she didn't think about him, not a day went by without her remembering his face. And in the back of her mind, sure, she wanted to avenge his death, but there was nothing left for her. She didn't want to run a wild goose chase over Danny when she had no motivation, nobody to care for her when it was all over. She couldn't face the thought of threatening an innocent life, she knew how it felt to loose somebody, and she didn't want to go through it again.
