Well I'm about to lead the team out, I left this morning before Alessia was awake so I could eat before anyone else got up and be ready so my head was clear, I found a quiet seat on the bus and had my headphones in with my feet up so no one could sit with me. I have so much going on in my head right now and I need it to stop. Just until the match is over. Deep breaths....... That's all I need.
As I shake hands with Lia Walti we swap flags and go to leave our jackets on the bench with the subs. "good luck," Alessia says grabbing my hand and taking my jacket but I pull away, I can't interact with her it will distract me to much. "Ella," Leah says nodding in my direction and breaking my focus. As I nod back I catch a glimpse of alessia's expression, she looks hurt. "Thank you," I whisper in her ear before kissing her cheek and running into my position. As I look back she has a smile on her face.

We are fairly evenly matched, kinda, Switzerland is playing better, we look like we have already played 90 minutes and it's poor form from us. "Bollocks," I say as I fall in our box causing Switzerland to get a penalty cause I took out one of there players, also gained myself a yellow card. " Easier said than done," I say running back to the middle of the pitch. God I feel like shit now, I shouldn't have given that pen away.
For fuck sake, we let 2 more goals in 5 minutes before half time whistle. " Ok, so I know this isn't going the way we want it to, but we can bring this back, I believe in us, I think we should bring some subs on, change formation this isn't working. We need to work better as a team to create any attacking opportunities, we are doing ok, but we need to be better," I say. Once I've finished speaking I walk away and sit in my cubby for a few minutes trying to think of what I can do better. The team is perfect, I let the first goal in and I lost control of the ball which let the second one in, so I let two out of the three goals, I can't do it. Why did I think I could be captain. "Ella, look at me," Alessia says crouching down Infront of me and holding my hands rubbing her thumbs over them," you are doing an amazing job, those goals were not your fault, you are a brilliant captain, our team believes in you, I believe in you," she says moving her hands so she is holding my face."you've got this, I love you," she says placing a kiss gently on my forehead. "I love you too," I say kissing her properly, " thank you," I mumble into her neck. "Let's do this," Sarina says before we walk out.
Second half
Fuck, fuck, fuck, how are we 5 down now we've been on the pitch 10 minutes in this half. I'm a shit captain. Alessia is about to come on so hopefully we get a goal.

Shit, I shake lias hand and walk straight down the tunnel, I didn't even do a lap. I can't believe we just lost by a 6 goal difference. The bus is just chilling so I got changed before anyone got in the changing rooms and went and sat on the bus at the back with my headphones in. "Hey," Leah says sitting in the seat next to me and putting my legs over hers. "Hi," I mumble looking out the window at the stadium.

It's a tough pill to swallow, but today was just not our day, and I guess fumbles happen and today wasn't our day. Thank you England for supporting us you were amazing as always, we will keep our heads up and move onto the next one.
