One year later.
Just as I settle into my chair, my office door bursts open.
I turn to see who the rude idiot is only to not be surprised. I sigh and settle back into my chair comfortably as I stare at Benjamin.
"Can I help you?" I keep my eyes on him, wanting badly for him to leave.
"Yes." He smiles bitterly. I already know what he is going to say.
"I want you to stop stealing my patients." There it is.
"I'm not stealing anyone."
"You are. You think that just because your father owns the hospital you can do whatever you want." He seems so irritated but not nearly as irritated as he has just made me.
"Look it's not my fault that your patients decide to come to me and stay. They simply prefer me and there is no reason for you to be angry at me for that." I badly wish he would quit if I bother him so much.
"I'm simply better at the job. I'm sorry that you suck." I shrug, fighting a smile when seeing how pissed off he has become in seconds.
"You're going to regret your words one day, Alcaraz." He turns to leave.
"I'll be patiently waiting."

Orion enters the car. I kiss him on the head as he completely ignores me.
I begin the drive back home. Silence consumes us and I try to not make myself feel bad about it. It kills me every time I realize my own son doesn't like me, but I still love and adore him.
As soon as we get home, he heads straight upstairs to his bedroom to change. I go to the kitchen to make us dinner. He doesn't come back downstairs until he is hungry. He sits down on the stool on the other side of the island. I put his plate in front of him and he begins to eat. I observe him while I lean against the island.
"It's almost your birthday." I state.
Orion nods but doesn't look at me or respond.
"What do you want to do on that day?" I ask him in hopes he will respond.
"I want to go bowling and then to the observatory." He very simply responds.
"Then that is what we'll do." I lightly smile while staring at him.
I already know what his gift will be. He's been asking me for it for quite a while now. I'm sure it will make him very happy.
"You will spend the whole day with me, right?" He asks, after a few moments of silence.
There is hope in his pretty eyes. I can't promise him anything, but I don't want to disappoint him either.
"Of course, cariño." I give him a small smile.
