I open the door after hearing a spam of clicking on the doorbell. Kane stands there, wrath straining his features.
It's because of yesterday.
I've been ignoring his calls and messages, and I guess that pissed him off more. I stand there not planning to let him in.
"Where is my son? I want to see him." Kane stares right into my eyes.
"He's doing homework." I calmly speak, refusing to give him permission to enter my house.
"Orion!" He calls out for him since I am blocking his way into the house.
It doesn't take long for my dear Orion to appear, and I have to make way for him to see his father. The moment I allow that happen the worst gut feeling settles in the pit of my stomach.
"Hi, papa." Orion hugs him and Kane gives him a kiss on the head.
"We're leaving." Kane informs him as I immediately realize what he is trying to do.
"Where? I can't leave right now. I have homework and mama isn't done making me dinner." Orion is so confused.
He gets more confused when I take him by the arm and bring him toward me.
"You aren't taking my son anywhere." I inform Kane who just smirks.
"What is happening?" Orion stares at me in question.
"You're going to be living with me now, son." Kane tells him.
"No, he isn't. His home is here with me." I clarify.
"Papa, I don't want to go with you. I love you but I want to live with mama." Orion tells him, and it relieves me that he thinks this way.
"You don't know what you want. You are better off with me." Kane tries to gaslight him. "Your mother doesn't take very well care of you, and she is bringing random men in front of you."
He pathetically continues. "That isn't right therefore I am a better parent. With me you won't be missing anything."
"Mama takes care of me well. I am happy with her, and she doesn't bring random men in front of me." Orion contradicts him on everything.
"She is the best mother in the world." He adds on, warming my anxious heart.
"Look, Orion, I'm not asking you what it is that you think about your mother. I am telling you that she is horrible for you because I know that she is. You're coming with me. I'm not asking you or your mother, I'm informing you." The way in which he talks causes Orion to furrow his eyebrows.
I can tell that in this exact moment my son realizes who his father really is. He understands that the kind and caring man he had met was only a mask put on by Kane in order to gain his trust. Kane just isn't aware yet that he has lost his son's trust.
