Silas and I exit his parents' restaurant.

They haven't opened it yet, but they invited me over to try out a few dishes. They showed me around the place as well. It has undergone a thorough transformation. It is much different from how it was when I first visited, before Silas bought it out of jealousy to be petty. It has a more beautiful architecture, and overall, they have created a lovely space. I'm sure it will have a lot of success due to its appearance and the food.

Silas firmly takes a hold of my hand, intertwining our fingers as we walk to the car. "I can tell that my parents really appreciated your approval on everything."

"They don't need my approval when they are extremely talented, creative, and intelligent people." I assure, staring ahead of me, down the street.

"But they like you and wanted your opinion. That means they see you as family now." As sweet as his words are I'm not able to focus when I notice a familiar woman standing a short distance away from us.

"Look it's Kane's mother." My words are quiet, and at that moment, she looks toward our direction as if feeling my stare.

A sketchy looking guy is speaking with her. I can immediately see hatred and malice in her eyes at the sight of me. She seems to be containing herself from doing anything. So, she turns around pretending she didn't see us.

"Want me to kill her now?" Silas looks determined and ready.

"No, let me talk to her first." I say as we walk toward her the moment the guy in front of her leaves.

I stop her just as she is about to leave herself. "Caroline."

She turns around furiously. "What do you want?" Her voice is steady and calm.

The hatred she already had toward me has become worse and it is understandable. Her husband and her son are dead because I ordered for them to be killed.

"I want to talk about what happened and about Karla." The irritation of talking to each other is mutual but I'm only doing this for the safety of my son.

"There is nothing to talk about. My son and husband are dead and I'm sure that you're behind it all. You must be happy to know that my grandson has inherited the family's fortune and that my daughter and I have been left with nothing." So many things make sense now.

"What?" There is no way in hell that I will ever allow Orion to accept their dirty money.

"Don't act stupid. Kane told you that Orion is the heir to everything that the family owns. The moment he died everything became Orion's." She makes it known herself.

"I wasn't aware of that. Kane never told me anything." I am being completely honest, and she can see that. Regret immediately shows in her eyes from opening her mouth.

"Don't worry. My son will not be accepting your stupid fortune. Keep it to yourself."

In that very moment I observe that something appears to be off about her.
