My coworkers invited me for a birthday brunch.
We all managed to be able to get together today so here we are. It's close to the hospital so if anything, we can quickly leave. I would have just preferred for this to be a normal brunch because my birthday was almost a week ago, but they insisted so I have to go along with it.
"I remember when we got those mimosas that one time." Max suddenly brings up.
Desiree and Alyssa laugh causing me to smile at the memory. I pick up the menu to look through it as they do the same.
"Don't remind me. I had to go home and call off work." Alyssa tries to contain her laughter.
"You drank too many to count. Of course you weren't going to function properly." Desiree laughs, her eyes scheming the menu in her hands.
"I thought it was just fancy orange juice. If I would have known it had alcohol in it, I wouldn't have drunk it." Alyssa defends herself with a shake of her head and a smile on her face.
"We realized that when it was too late that you didn't know what a mimosa was." Max chuckles.
"I should have known by the way Catalina was staring at me every time I would have my glass refilled." Alyssa briefly glances at me.
"If I would have known that you didn't know it had alcohol then I would have told you to stop. I just thought that you knew what you were doing."I smile giving her an apologetic look.
"Don't worry, I've learned my lesson." She assures. Her smile suddenly widens at the same moment that I feel a presence beside me.
I turn to see who it is only to realize it is no one other than Silas. He is wearing glasses today. Not sunglasses, but just ordinary glasses instead. I also observe that he is dressed really well, but it looks expensive, and he is wearing leather gloves. The coat he has on seems the most expensive in particular.
"Good morning." He towers over me.
"Good morning." All three of my friends respond at once.
"I hope I'm not interrupting." He averts his eyes down to me. A smile appears on his lips, his dimples showing as he stares at me.
Having his attention in such a way gives me what I think are butterflies in my stomach. It makes me feel some sort of way. I like it but I know that it isn't good if I like it.
"Not at all." Alyssa responds to him.
"I saw Cata here and I wanted to say hi." Cata.
I give him a brief smile before looking away from him. I can't stand the fact that he has an effect on me and my entire body. He is making it harder to resist him the more he just shows up in my life. What makes me weaker is how hot he looks. Kind of hate that I can't show it or admit it. The things I'd do to him and allow him to do to me if he was just a stranger that I wouldn't see ever again in my life.
