The pain has become so unbearable.
I sigh thinking of taking painkillers, but something tells me I shouldn't. I think I should go to the hospital now just to make sure I'm fine. I've been feeling these horrible cramps all day and as time passes, they become more painful, I think.
I continue driving but instead of heading toward that stupid party I was planning to get wasted at, I drive toward the nearest hospital to me.
I swear I think I'm dying. Never in my life have I experienced such a pain. I'm even sweating from how bad it is. This is worse than menstrual cramps so I'm sure it isn't that.
It takes me a few minutes to reach the hospital. With all my physical and mental strength, I get out the car and I slowly walk toward urgent care. I'm going to step on the few stairs as I see I am so close to entering the hospital, but I stop from how much worse the pain gets.
I take deep breaths as I grip onto the metal railing as hard as I can.
"Miss, are you okay?" A security guard comes toward me as I shake my head.
"I need assistance and possibly a wheelchair...." He speaks into his walkie talkie thing, and I tune him out because the only thing I can focus on is this horrible pain.
It's like cramping but so much worse. The pain starts in my back and then spreads to the front. I can't stand it. I would so much rather die than feel this.
It's a whole blur as the security guard helps me up the stairs to some nurses who help me sit on a wheelchair. They immediately take me into the hospital while asking me so many questions.
"When was the last time you had your period?" The older woman asks me.
"A month ago." I respond, my eyes half closed from the stupid cramps.
"Let's do an ultrasound on her." She tells another nurse who nods.
My paperwork is quickly filled out as I am then taken to get an ultrasound. The whole time I feel like I am dying, and I even begin to pray for myself. If this is my time to go, then I want to go not having any regrets or holding any grudges.
The woman is doing the ultrasound on me and not even a few seconds later she stops. She stares at me dead in the eyes, but I can't quite tell what is wrong. She gives me a small smile before leaving the room for a few seconds. She enters again with another nurse and a doctor. She continues with the ultrasound as they look between the screen and me.
"What? What's wrong?" I weakly ask not knowing how much longer I'll be able to handle this.
"Ms. Alcaraz, you're pregnant." The doctor tells me as the other nurse rushes out the room.
"I think you may be in labor so we're calling in a gynecologist." He informs me as the nurse cleans the gel off my flat stomach.
"This is a joke, right?" It has to be. This can't be possible in the slightest.
