Orion surprises me by reaching over to give me a hug from the side as soon as he gets inside the car.
A broad smile instantly forms on my face at the action. I reach over to give him a kiss on the head before I begin to drive out of the school. He begins talking to me about his day and the work that he did. He then mentions that he needs help with some homework when we get home.
After a few quiet seconds, Orion speaks up. "Cat."
I give him a brief glance indicating that he has my attention.
"I have a crush on a girl at school." He says it so calmly and straightforward, but it completely catches me off guard.
"Really? What's her name?" I smile, happy that he trusts me enough to tell me this.
"Her name is Daniela." He answers, a light smile on his lips and a sparkle in his eyes.
"That's a pretty name. What's she like?" I feel so happy right now. Not only is my baby growing up so fast, but he is also learning to trust me again.
"She's very pretty and she's kind. She has short black hair with a pink streak in it and her eyes are brown like honey. She wears light pink glasses that make her even prettier than she already is." The way in which he talks about her is so sweet that it makes my heart want to burst.
"I think she likes me too. Her friend told me." He almost blushes at that.
"I'm sure she does. You're very handsome, smart, and sweet." I assure him to boost his confidence.
"Am I allowed to have a girlfriend?" Orion asks me suddenly.
"Sure." Why not? I don't mind it. I also prefer to know than for him to hide it from me.
"Should I ask her to be my girlfriend?" He looks at me for an opinion.
"Go for it." I encourage him.
"What if she says no?" He now becomes a bit nervous.
"Then it's okay. Just accept it and respect it. Move on. Then when you least expect it, you'll meet someone else." I think that is what I'm supposed to tell him.
"Okay."
We get home shortly.
Orion is working on his homework as I cook our dinner for tonight. I then decide that now would be a time to tell him about Silas and me. I know he won't mind, and Silas has already told everyone he knows. My son can't be the only one not knowing.
"Orion." I turn around to see him glance at me.
"Remember how I said I didn't want to be in a relationship with anyone and then we talked about how you would feel if Silas was my boyfriend?" I start off, seeing the way hope slowly grows in his precious eyes.
"Yeah. Why?" He smiles as if already suspecting it.
"Silas asked me to be his girlfriend." I inform him, his pretty smile growing even bigger.
