I gain consciousness to the sensation of someone playing with my hair. A headache hits me gravely as I adjust my eyes only to see a horrifying sight. Kane.
He is sitting in a chair beside the bed I'm on. He's staring at me while playing with my hair. Never before have I wished to be blinded the way I do now.
I shove his hand away and I sit up immediately, trying to ignore my headache. I look around me to see I'm in a house. Probably his. It's evident by the interior. Vintage has always been his mother's preference.
"You don't know how much I've missed watching you sleep." The creep speaks.
"Why am I in your house? How long has it been?" I'm so dazed and the stupid headache isn't helping.
The last thing I remember is giving myself up after sending Orion away. It was very late at night then and from what I can see through the open windows across the room, it's bright outside right now. All I can truly think about is my Orion.
Did he make it safely? Is he with Lucia or Silas? Is he hurt? Did Kane manage to get him? What if he got lost in the forest or came across a dangerous animal? What if he is suffering or if someone else took him?
"Relax, angel eyes." Kane puts his hand on my shoulder, but I once again shove him away as I become frustrated with my thoughts.
"It's been about eight hours." He informs me, glancing down at his watch.
"To answer your initial question, you're here because this is your new home, love." He reaches for my face, but I slap his hand away causing him to chuckle.
I sigh. "Why can't you accept that I don't want you?"
I am currently experiencing terrible side effects from the chemicals I inhaled, and I am becoming really irritated. Kane's presence is not at all helping.
"Because I want you. I love you, Catalina." Kane reclines against the chair.
"When will you accept that and let me prove it to you?" He raises his brow in inquiry.
"If you loved me, you would let me go and I wouldn't be here now." I tell him the obvious because this weird thing that he calls love is far from being that.
"You're here now because I need you to remember. You need to realize that I still mean something to you." He is gradually growing frustrated with me.
Kane then abruptly changes the topic. "Where is Orion?"
I only shrug. I am a little relieved to know that he isn't with him. Now all I hope for is that he is safe.
"He isn't with your parents or Lucia. So where is he, Catalina? Where the fuck did you leave my son?" He is starting to become angry now.
"My son is somewhere safe. Somewhere where you'll never be able to reach him." I make it very clear that he is solely my son because he has lost the privilege of being his father.
