Faith leads me out the basement and shows me the way into the house we're in.

"What are you doing Faith?! You're so fucking stupid no wonder my brother didn't want you!" Karla struggles to speak as her friend ignores her.

"He isn't going to kill us you dumb bitch!" Karla tries so hard to be free of me.

The way in which I stare at Faith when she stops to second guess herself is all she needs to keep walking. Gunshots suddenly reverberate outside and then the sound of footsteps coming down the stairs we were going to walk toward.

Orion runs down the stairs and, in that moment, I shove Karla away from me and into her friend, hiding my gun in the process. I don't want my son to think of me as dangerous or a monster. I want his perception of me to remain pure.

"Papa." Orion runs into my arms. The terrified look in his eyes disappears the moment he sees me and immediately appears relieved.

I hug him tightly with a kiss to his head. He appears to be well but I will make sure of it when we leave this place.

Karla and Faith take advantage of me being distracted and they manage to obtain guns from a nearby drawer. The guns are pointed at me and my son. While her supposed friend is more than willing to kill me, Faith lacks confidence and appears afraid.

"Stand behind me. Close your eyes and cover your ears." In a whisper, I command Orion. With a simple nod he obliges.

"Orion go back into your room now!" Karla has the audacity to shout at my son.

So I take my gun out and immediately pull the trigger. Her body falls lifeless with a hole between her eyes.

Faith stares at the body in horror. Full of terror, her eyes avert to me the moment my gun is perfectly directed at her brain. She shakes her head, tears falling from her eyes, but before she can plead me to spare her life, I shoot, and she instantly joins her friend on the ground.

Outside, the gunfire grows louder and appears to be gradually approaching us. After putting the gun away, I turn to face my son.
