Aurora POV:

The next morning after we ate breakfast, we made our way to our first class of term which was defence against the dark arts with the new professor, Moody.

"Alastor Moody!" He announced writing his name on the blackboard.

"Ex-Auror, Ministry malcontent, and your new defence against the dark arts teacher." He had finished writing. "I'm here because Dumbledore asked me, end of story, goodbye, the end!" He said as his eye was moving around the classroom. "Any questions?"

"When it comes to the dark arts." He started. "I believe in a more practical approach. CONSTANT VIGILANCE!" He yelled as most of us jumped. "But first which of you can tell me how many unforgivable curses there are?"

Kaden and I watched the man intently before Naomi answered his question. "Three, sir."

"And they are so named?"

"because they are unforgivable... The use of any one of them..."

"Will earn you a one way ticket to AZ-KA-BAN, correct!" He bellowed. "Now, the ministry says your too young to see what these curses do. I say different, you need to know what you're up against, you need to be prepared, you need to find somewhere else to put your chewing gum other than the underside of your desk Mr. Finnegan!"

"Ah no way, the old codger can see out the back of his head." Seamus said.

Moody turned around and chucked a piece of chalk at Seamus but it was caught by Kaden who recrossed his arms. "And hear across classrooms! Mr. Barnes, since you decided to interfere, which curse should we see first?"

Kaden didn't say anything as he sat still with his arms crossed and he shook his head.

"Fine! Weasley! Stand!"

Ron stood up nervously before he shot a glare at Kaden who ignored him.

"Give me a curse."

"W-well my dad did tell me about one... The Imperius curse."

"Yes, your father would know about that one, gave the ministry quite a bit of grief a few years ago. Perhaps this will show you why..."

Moody walked back to his desk and opened a jar with a spider in it. We saw Ron whimper at the sight of it, Moody made the spider grow so she could be seen by everyone.

"Hello my beauty." Moody said. "IMPERIO!"

He flicked his wand, we watched the spider jump onto the desk from his hand.

"Don't worry, completely harmless." He said as he moved his wand about the classroom with the spider following the wand. He stopped the spider right over Ron's head. "But if she bites... She's lethal!"

How lovely.

Malfoy laughed from the corner of the class. "What are you laughing at, Sunny?" Moody said making the spider move onto Malfoy's face as everyone laughed but Kaden and I.

"Talented isn't she?" Moody laughed. "What should I make her do next? Jump out the window?" He said as he moved the spider to the window.

"Drown herself?" He asked moving the spider to a bucket of water. I could hear the spiders thoughts and I knew Hermione, Naomi, and Kaden could as well. The spider was begging not to be drowned.

"Scores of witches and wizards have claimed they did the dark lords biddings under the influence of the Imperius curse." Moody explained. "But here's the thing, how do we sort out the liars?"

"Another, another..." He said scanning the room before his eyes fell on Neville. "Longbottom, is it? UP!"

Neville slowly stood up and followed Moody to his desk. "Professor Sprout tells me you have an aptitude for Herbology. Give us a curse."
