Third Person POV:

As the first years made their way into the great hall, they were all amazed by what they saw. They saw candles floating and the ceiling that replicated the night sky.

"It's not real the ceiling." Hermione said to the group.  "It's enchanted to look like the night sky I read about it in..."

"Hogwarts a History." Aurora, Kaden, and Naomi responded in unison. the four of them shared a look and smiled at one another.

"It was one of my favorite books to read." Kaden said

"That we can agree on." Aurora remarked.

Kaden smiled at her which caused a slight blush to creep up to Aurora's cheeks. Hermione and Naomi shared a knowing look and shook their heads at the two's antics.

Professor McGonagall stopped the first years at the front of the hall where a single stool stood on top of the stool was a ragged hat that looked rather dirty.

"Will you wait here please? Professor Dumbledore would like to say a few words." McGonagall said.

Professor Dumbledore, a man with a long beard, half-moon glasses, and long hair stood and addressed the hall.

"I have a few notices I wish to announce. To the first years please note that the forest is strictly forbidden. A few of our older students will do well to remember that." Dumbledore said as he quickly glanced at the Weasley twins sitting at the Gryffindor table. The twins smiled proudly at the head master. "Also, our caretaker Mr. Filch has asked me to remind you that the third floor corridor on the right hand side is out of bounds to all those who wish to not die a painful death. Thank you." Dumbledore finished as he sat back down.

"Well, at least he's honest." Kaden remarked as he received a glare from the three girls beside him.

"Got it, gonna be quiet now." He said as he cleared his throat and looked forward.

We all looked at the has as  it opened what appeared to be it's mouth.

"Oh you may not think I'm pretty,
But you don't judge on what you see,
I'll eat myself if you can find
A smarter hat than me.

You can keep your bowlers black,
Your top hats sleek and tall,
For I'm the Hogwarts Sorting Hat
And I can cap them all.

There's nothing hidden in your head
The Sorting Hat can't see,
So try me on and I will tell you
Where you ought to be.

You might belong in Gryffindor,
Where dwell the brave at heart,
Their daring, nerve, and chivalry
Set Gryffindor's apart;

You might belong in Hufflepuff,
Where they are just and loyal,
Those patient Hufflepuffs are true
And unafraid of toil;

Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw,
If you've a ready mind,
Where those of wit and learning,
Will always find their kind;

Or perhaps in Slytherin
You'll make your real friends,
Those cunning folks use any means
To achieve their ends.

So put me on! Don't be afraid!
And don't get in a flap!
You're in safe hands (though I have none)
For I'm a Thinking Cap!"

The hat concluded as the hall burst into applause and cheers as McGonagall then stood up and came forward to the first years.

'What and odd hat.'

Kaden heard Aurora's voice in his head as he hummed in agreement quietly not letting her know that he heard what she was thinking.
