Hermione POV:

The day after we found the writing on the wall we were in transfiguration learning a new spell. I couldn't stop thinking about what the events that happened last night. From Kaden and Harry hearing a voice only they can hear, the writing on the wall, Mrs. Norris being petrified, everything that was happening was making me worried.

"Could I have your attention please?" McGonagall asked as everyone looked at the professor. "Now, today we shall be transforming animals into goblets. Like so."

McGonagall demonstrated the spell by tapping her wand three times on a bird resting near her desk as she spoke.

"Vera Verto."

The bird was now a goblet and there was no trace of a bird anywhere.

"Now it's your turn. Who would like to go first?" McGonagall asked as she looked around the room. "Ah Mr. Barnes! One, Two, three, Vera Verto." McGonagall said with as small smile at Kaden.

Kaden wasn't paying much attention as he looked lost in thought. Almost like he was concentrating on something that no one else could see or hear. Naomi nudged him in the ribs harshly as he snapped out of his thoughts and cleared his throat.

"Right... Vera Verto." He said as he tapped the bird in front of him and it transfigured into a goblet perfectly like McGonagall's had.

"Well done Mr. Barnes." McGonagall said as she continued until I raised my hand wanting to ask the question that had been on my mind since last night. "Yes, Ms. Granger?"

"Professor, I was wondering if you could tell us about the Chamber of Secrets."

McGonagall had slightly stiffened at the request but eventually gave in and decided to tell the class.

"Very well, as you all know Hogwarts was founded over a thousand years ago by four of the greatest witches and wizards of their age. They were Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw, and Salazar Slytherin. Now three of the founders coexisted harmoniously, one did not."

"Three guesses who." Ron whispered to Harry but I still heard him.

"Now Salazar Slytherin wished to be more selective about the students admitted to Hogwarts. He believed magical learning should be kept within magical families, pure-bloods in other words."

Malfoy was glaring at Naomi and I with a smug grin believing himself to be superior to my sister and I because he was a pure-blood.

"Unable to sway the others, he decided to leave the school. According to legend, Slytherin built a hidden chamber in the castle known as the Chamber of Secrets. Well, shortly before he departed he sealed the chamber so only his true heir could open it and unleash the horror from within and by doing so purge the school of those who in Slytherin's view were unworthy to study magic."

"Muggle borns." I said saddened and concerned.

McGonagall nodded in confirmation at what I had said.

"Naturally, the school has been searched and no chamber has ever been found." She said before I decided to ask another question that was on my mind.

"Professor, what exactly does legend say about the horror that lies in the chamber?"

"It is said that only the heir of Slytherin can control what lies within. It is said to be home... of a monster." McGonagall said with fear.

The class ended as the five of us made our way out into the corridor. As we were walking, Ron started a conversation.

"Do you think it's true through, what McGonagall said?" He asked.
