Chapter 40

Last we left off, Mikaela and Escanor fought Zeldris and Estarossa, respectively. Mikaela learned a new move called Annihilation, which works by having his dark and light magic cancel each other out, creating a force capable of destroying matter regardless of its defense or magical resistance. At the same time, Escanor managed to beat Estarossa, prompting Zeldris to try and save him but ended up failing. After that, Denzel attempted to kill Derieri and Monspeet by having Nerobasta inhabit his body, which ended up not working. After that, Derieri and Monspeet made their way to the boarhat due to a disturbance, and they sensed where Derieri attempted to kill Elizabeth, though Meliodas, who was revived, saved her.

We then cut to Elizabeth standing in front of Meliodas.

Elizabeth: You might find this hard to believe, but I went on a journey to see your past self. I found out you were watching over me since before I was old enough to remember, and now it all makes sense to me. Every time I look at you, I feel so sentimental with such compassion in my heart. Thank you, Meliodas, and welcome back.

Said Elizabeth while Meliodas looked at her with a smile.

Elizabeth: But are you your body Is okay?

Meliodas: Huh? Oh, if you mean my heart, then look.

Said Meliodas showing her his body.

Meliodas: I'm all back to normal, now. You wanna check for a heartbeat? Here.

Said Meliodas placing Elizabeth hand on his chest so that she can feel his heartbeat.

Meliodas: Oh, and by the way, where is Mika? I don't sense him here.

Said Meliodas looking around in confusion.

Elizabeth: Mikaela is in Liones right now; you should really see him. *looks down* He didn't take your death well.

Said Elizabeth causing Meliodas to look down in sadness.

Meliodas: That so? 

That's when Zaratras walked over to the duo getting Meliodas's attention.

Meldiodas: Yo, sup, Zaratras? I'm surprised we're both alive to meet again in this world.

Zaratras: Funny, I was about to say the same thing to you. I see you're still the same monster you've always been.

Said Zaratras, causing Meliodas to chuckle. That's when Hawk in his red demon form flew out of the boarhat with Lostvayne.

Meliodas: Hey, thanks a lot there, Hawk.

That's when both Meliodas and Zaratras sensed something as Derieri punched Hawk mom, knocking her down, though Meliodas quickly grabbed Elizabeth's bridal style and landed on the ground. Derieri didn't let up as she attempted to kick Meliodas. That's when Hawk flew in and attempted to attack Derieri.

Elizabeth: Hawk, no!

Exclaimed Elizabeth as Derieri kicked Hawk away. That's when Meliodas lariated her into the ground before elbowing her in the stomach, causing her to cough out a little blood. Meliodas then proceeded to jump back as Derieri got up.

Derieri: Traitorous bastard!

Exclaimed Derieri before charging at Meliodas and attempting to hit him with a barrage of punches at Meliodas, though Meliodas parried each and every single one of her punches before jumping over her and kicking her in the back, causing her to fall to the ground. However, Derieri quickly got up and attempted to reset her combo, but Meliodas continued parrying her strikes before grabbing her by the writs, with Derieri doing the same.

Meliodas: Look If it's at all possible, I'd rather not kill you.

Said Meliodas, causing Derieri to grin. That's when Monspeet came in from the sky and launched a fire blast in the form of a dragon.
