amaris groaned as conner shoved the phone in her face again to get her to read the comment "look" his voice quivered Jamie Reynolds is clearly dead. the comment read as amaris pushed the phone away from her face.
"we have" pip sighs as she walked around a group of juniors "what was the one very important rule I gave you, Con?" pip asks glancing at him as she pulled on amaris' sleeve to make her keep up "never read the comments. ever. oK?"
"i know" conner looks down at his phone "but that's a reply to your tweet with the episode link, and it's already got one hundred and nine likes. does that mean one hundred and nine people really think my brother's dead?"
"no connor -" conner cuts amaris off making her scowl
"and there's this one, from Reddit, this person thinks that Jamie must have taken the knife from our house on Friday evening, to defend himself, therefore he must have known someone would try to attack him." conner rambles
"connor." amaris sighs
"what? you read the comments." he defends and amaris grimices not in the mood for a scolding from her sister
"yes. in case there are any tips, or someone has spotted something I missed. but I know that the vast majority are unhelpful and that the internet is full of morons, and it takes a toll on your mental health which is why shes not supposed to read them" pip shoots amaris a look " did you see Jamie carrying a dirty great knife around at the memorial? or in any of the photos from the calamity? no. because he couldn't have, he was wearing just a shirt and jeans. Not many places to hide a six-inch blade."
"you guys get quite a few trolls, huh? i killed Jamie and I'll kill you guys too" Conner read out making a student gasp and rush away "I was just reading something out," Conner called with a sigh
"right." pip stops infront of mr clarks room "come with us, but if I give you the eyes, that means you need to leave. Got it?"
"yes, I get it now,"he huffs
as pip opened the door the teacher stood "hello Pip, Connor, mari" his voice was bright "what can I do for you? is this about the exam?"
"um, no" Amaris mumbles
"it's actually about something else." pip finishes
"what's up?" he questions
"I don't know if you've heard, but Connor's brother, Jamie, went missing last Friday and we're looking into his disappearance. He was an ex-pupil here." pip explains
"yes, yes I saw that in the town newspaper yesterday, im very sorry, Connor, that must be very hard for you and your family. I'm sure the school counsellor would -"
"so like pip said" Amaris cuts him off "we're investigating Jamie's disappearance and we've traced a lead to a particular individual."
"and, well, we think you might know this individual. might be able to give us some information on her." pip adds
"well I dont know if im allowed-" Amaris cuts him off again
"layla mead." she says glancing at Amaris as they study his reaction. "so you do know her?" amaris smirks
"no." he denies "sorry, I've never heard that name before.'
"oh, ok, our mistake." pip frowns acting apologetic "It's just-it's strange, then, right mari?" she asks her sister who nods playing along
