"What happened?", I shouted back. I was already standing on the stairs, but I ran back down towards the kitchen.

"I just checked my phone. I forgot they emailed the invites for next England camp today", she looked at me. Right! How could we forget about that! Well, to be fair, we had other things to celebrate today.

"I thought something happened", I clutched my chest. I felt a little sting, but I didn't think much of it.

"Well, technically it did", she said and looked at me sadly.

I wasn't called up this time, I'm sure it's that.

"Just kidding! You're in the squad, same as me!", she jumped up and hugged me.

"You bitch! Never do that again you hear me?!", I hit her chest multiple times until I stopped and just enjoyed our excitement. We were going to play for the Lionesses again. These games were the qualifying games for the upcoming Olympics. We had to play against The Netherlands, Belgium and Scotland.

"Let's sleep now, shall we", Leah just laughed. I huffed but saw the humor in it eventually. The pain faded again, so I think it was nothing. I endured a lot of stress recently.

Let's just say we slept like babies after hearing that news.

Time skip

Leah called me. I declined as soon as I saw it. We were fighting for a week now. And for nothing really. She started by saying that dogs were more fun to be around than cats in one of our daily calls. I said that was utter bullshit, on which she said I wouldn't know shit about it because I never had any pets. And then it escalated and we just started to insult each other and our entire family trees... I said she wouldn't survive without her family, and she said I wouldn't survive with them.

You can't blame me, I have a short temper and I say before I think. But I couldn't believe she'd say that after the things I went through. And now, neither of us wants to apologize first. We didn't sent 'I love you' texts either, we barely spoke to each other.

She called again, so I declined again. And then she called again. Does she not understand I don't want to talk to her? Declined. Again.

And then Beth called me. All of the sudden, it wasn't a coincidence in my head. There was something going on. I picked up, because she was someone I was actually willing to talk to.

"Beth. Hi", I greeted her.

"Louise, did you check the news?", she skipped right to the important part.

"No I didn't, I'm busy packing for tomorrow", tomorrow we had to travel to St. Georger Park again, for the next camp.

"Do it now. You'll see", she instructed me.

"What's going on?", I asked while I dropped whatever I was doing and walked towards the television. I tried to switch to a news channel, and by the time I found one, Beth hung up and Leah called. I still didn't know what I was about to see, but I picked up.

"Louise", she called my name. It's the first time in a week since I heard her voice, and whatever she may have said, I was happy to hear her talk. Her voice was so soothing, I missed it. I missed her. But I can't give in, she said some things which I didn't appreciate, so I remained cold.

"Leah", I stated.

"I'm so... I'm so sorry", she said. This was beginning to sound like a deja vu. Felix this time? Lisa maybe? Or better yet, mom.

I looked at the screen and saw a headline.

Martha McKay, mother of famous and young goalkeeper Louise McKay, released from police hold after discovering lack of evidence.
