Daphne's POV~

I felt a sense of déjà vu as I read this, remembering when Zephyr had also slapped a worker when I caught someone's shadow in the library.

Was it for the same reason? Was he worried?

I flipped the page to read more.

Dear Elsie,

Merry Christmas! I hope you're doing well. Today, we had our Christmas party just like last year. It's my second Christmas celebrating with the Reynolds. Adrian was over the moon since morning because of the gender reveal party in the evening.

I asked him why we needed to know the gender before the baby's born, but he was so hyped. We had a little argument, and I ended up in tears because my emotions were all over the place because of my hormones. But Adrian, being the sweet husband he is, calmed me down. I finally agreed though I was still unsure.

Later at the party, Adrian announced my pregnancy and the gender reveal. Everyone was buzzing with excitement. They raised their glasses for the reveal, but I was a bundle of nerves. and my mind was swirled with the questionWas I really ready to know?

My heart was pounding as we stood in front of the cake—a pure, simple white one with beige fondant flowers. Adrian handed me the knife, his hand over mine. We cut into it together.

All eyes were glued to the cake and there it was—a baby pink sponge. Tears welled up in my eyes instantly. Then, bam! Pink confetti exploded everywhere. Adrian looked shocked seeing the cake while the crowd erupted into cheers and applause.

I couldn't help but smile through my tears. Elsie, today was the best day ever.

Maybe gender reveals aren't so bad after all, but I still don't think I'll be a big fan. *chuckles through tears

With love,

Evie

A girl? Reynolds has an older sister? But they didn't tell me or mention her at all. Is she married? Or is she even alive or dead?

Dear Elsie,

Happy New Year! I'm hopeful that this year brings us great things ahead. I'm doing well, and my belly has definitely expanded. In just a few more months, I'll be welcoming a beautiful baby girl into the world. The gynecologist says the baby is healthy, and she advised me to stay happy and eat more healthy stuff, just like I've been doing, and also not to forget to take all my medications on time.

But you know, the days after Christmas have been quite bitter. Adrian is coming home late from the office, and we can't spend the time together like we used to. He leaves early in the morning and returns late at night, and I'm worried about his health. He's working so hard for both of us and our baby girl, and because of this, he's been getting quite angry too. This week, he shouted at me twice, which he never used to do before.

Today, there's no New Year's party like we had last year, just a big empty house. There are no maids and butlers either, as they're on holiday. It's just me and Victoria here at the estate alone, which is why I'm writing this down early.
