Cyrus's POV~

"We've tested the new games, and the reviews have surpassed our previous ones. We plan to release them by the end of this month," Zephyr said, and the oldie men nodded like it was the most important thing ever.

 I just sighed, as usual.

Parties are so boring, especially these rich people's parties. Yeah, it's kinda funny that I'm from a rich family too, but I don't really feel like I fit in.

My family is different.

There's no one else like us.

My mom and dad were best friends in high school. When they got to college, Dad told Mom he loved her, and since she had a crush on him too, they decided to get married right after college.

They started a company together and worked insanely hard, day and night. Thanks to their hard work, they gave me this fancy life, which I honestly think I could do without. After five years of grinding, they built a successful company with a solid income. That's when Mom found out she was pregnant with me.

And then I came into their life.

I had a life full of luxury, no doubt, surrounded by all the branded stuff, but as a kid and even now, it didn't mean much to me.

They say, "Time spent with loved ones is the currency of the heart, more precious than any wealth," but my mom and dad were the total opposite of this. They didn't have a single minute for me.

Even on weekends, when we were supposed to have our family movie nights every Saturday and Sunday, they were always on calls from the office or talking about their company's schedule for the next week.

My mom and dad were dead set on molding their mini-me into their image: smart, hardworking, loving, caring, and especially a prodigy

That's why, after school, I was never home.

I was always in some class, whether it was piano, swimming, or computer programming. They didn't want me to have any free time to think about them or get bored, so they kept me on the go, just like they were; always tangled up in classes and activities. But amidst all the hustle and bustle, I felt like a lost puzzle piece in a jigsaw with no one looking for me.

I excused myself from the group, pretending I had a call on my phone, and walked out to the garden, heading towards the pavilion.

I sipped my wine and looked up at the clear night sky.

I was so alone back then, which made me talk less to the people around me. In my final year of high school, everything took a turn I never could have imagined.

Mom and Dad used to fight about their office stuff and dumb, pointless things.

Looking back, trying to be understanding, I guess they both had reasons, but I could never figure out who was actually right.
