I hummed to myself as I tended to the flowers in the front garden, smiling as I watered them. But my smile dropped when I heard coughing and spluttering. I immediately looked up to see Philip, the eldest of the Hamilton children, limping towards the front door, lookin like he'd just been beaten up.
"Young Master Hamilton! What happened?" I asked, dropping what I was doing and rushing over. He looked at me before, I guessed, his leg that wasn't hurt gave out and he fell into me. Thankfully I was pretty strong, so I was able to catch him. That's when I heard another voice, "(Y/n), why are you carrying Philip bridal style?"
I looked to the voice, "Young John, would you please alert your parents? And ask them to call a doctor? It seems your brother has got into a pretty bad fight."
The nine-year-old boy nodded and rushed back inside after holding the door open for me so I could bring Philip to his room. I placed him down on his bed and rushed around to find a first aid kit and returned to him, using some of the rubbing alcohol to disinfect the wounds I could see, which caused him to wake up.
"(Y/n)? What happened?"
"Young Master Hamilton, I was tending the garden when I saw you limping up the front step, then you fainted into me when I tried to ask you what had happened. Did you get in some form of fight?"
He nodded, "Yeah, Eacker was saying shit about Dad, and I couldn't let it slide, so I approached him, and we got in a fight. As you can see, he won."
I sighed, "I see. Now, with your permission, I'll need to see if you've got any injuries anywhere else," I spoke, hinting at the fact that I'd need to take his shirt off as I could see bloodstains on it.
"Go ahead, (Y/n). I trust you," he replied, winking at me, causing my face to heat up. At that moment, there was a knock at the door, "Philip, the doctor's here. Can he come in?" I stood up from Philip's bedside as he replied, with a, 'yes' to his mother, and I stood back, "I'll leave you in the hands of the professional," before leaving the room, as the doctor entered. I smiled at Mrs Hamilton, giving her a little bow, "Hello, Mrs Hamilton. I will return to my duties now," I spoke, going to walk down the hallway.
"(Y/n)."
"Yes, Ma'am?" I asked turning back around to face her.
"Thank you."
"For what?" I questioned, confused. All I'd done was make sure Philip was alright before the doctor arrived.
"For helping Philip. Don't worry about the garden, Angie packed the gardening stuff up because William and John wanted someone to play with in the garden."
"Oh. Right. Is there anything else you'd like me to do?" I asked, as I'd finished the rest of my tasks for that day.
"No, it's alright, (Y/n). Have a rest."
"Are you sure there is nothing else I need to do?"
Mrs Hamilton just chuckled, "I know you're worried about Philip. I'll come and let you know the situation once the doctor's gone."
