------------------------

I sighed to myself as I finished patching up a wound on a soldier's leg, giving the young man a smile as he fell asleep. I sat down, taking a break as I examined the words etched into my skin, "What's a young thing like you doing in a war?" I rolled my eyes, knowing that my soulmate was a complete douchebag, but put the thought to the back of my head as the tent flaps opened and two men came in, one I recognised as Aaron Burr, the other, who was holding his side, which was bleeding heavily, I didn't. I immediately rushed over, "Put him down on that empty cot, any idea what happened?"

"Yeah, Laurens shot him in the side in a duel. Lee here shot in the air."

I nodded in response, "When is that idiot going to learn? Burr, do you know why this duel happened?"

"Apparently, Lee was talking shit about General Washington and Hamilton and Laurens didn't like it."

"I see, thank you for bringing him here."

Burr nodded before leaving and I turned to who I now knew as Lee, but before I could speak, he'd spoken, "What's a young thing like you doing in a war?" I scoffed at his question, deciding to ignore it, "General, I'm going to need you to stay still. No matter how much it hurts, okay?"

When I got no response, I noticed him staring at his arm which was glowing, "Holy shit, you're my soulmate."

I looked down at my own arm, which was also glowing and I pulled my sleeve up to see that the writing had gone, "And you're mine. Let's talk about that after though, right now, I need to save your life."

-------------------------------

Several hours later, due to his whining, I'd managed to remove the bullet from his side, and bandaged him up, "There. You'll need to stay here until it heals though."

"It's fine, means I can spend more time with you, Soulmate."

"Yeah, okay. You don't need to keep going on about it. My brother's gonna kill you when he finds out we're soulmates, you know."

"And your brother is?" Charles asked.

"John-"

"Laurens has been shot!" I heard from outside the tent, causing my senses to heighten. Next thing I knew, John and Alexander came in, the former leaning on the latter's shoulder for support.

"Sweet Jesus," I muttered to myself as I walked over, getting ready to help. Once he was patched up, my breathing returned to normal as I calmed down, knowing he wasn't going to die.

"(Y/n)," my brother spoke, as he grabbed my arm, stopping me from walking off.

"Yeah?"

"Where's your Soul Mark?"

I sighed, my shoulders slumping, knowing I would have to tell him, "I-I met my soulmate."

"Awesome! Who is it!? You're so lucky, I want to meet mine! All I have is just 'Right... Sorry, I wasn't expecting that. I normally get forgotten.' Like how am I gonna meet them if they get forgotten all the time?!"

I rolled my eyes, "You'll meet them someday, John. I'm sure of it, dear brother. As for my soulmate... well, you're not on great terms with him..."

"Dear God, don't tell me it's Lee..."

I bit my lip and looked away, glancing over at the man in question, who had now fallen asleep on the cot he was lying on. John groaned, lifting a hand to his face in frustration, "Why? Of course it had to be him!"

"You've just got to learn to get along with people, John."

-------------------------

It had been a surprise to me when Charles had asked John to be his best man, and an even bigger surprise when John had agreed, but eventually, I guessed they were trying to be on good terms for me, something that I was happy about.

After we'd had our first dance, I sat down for a bit beside Peggy, my maid of honour. She had been ecstatic when I had asked her, normally having been overlooked due to her sisters, but she was my favourite of the three of them, so of course I was going to ask her.

"(Y/n)!"

"Heya, Pegs. Any luck on the soulmate front?"

She shook her head, "Still no. I'm probably never going to meet him," she sighed, banging her head on the table in front of us. The writing on her wrist saying, 'I do believe I owe you a dance, Miss Maid of Honour.'.

That's when John and Charles walked over, leaning on each other, showing to me that they were at least slightly drunk, no one could pretend to like someone that much. Upon them coming closer, Charles smiled, giving me a hug and pecking my cheek. I leaned up to John's ear and whispered, "I think you owe someone a dance." as I nodded my head towards Peggy, who still had her head against the table. I winked at him and glanced towards his forearm, hinting at what I'd worked out and he smiled turning to the yellow-loving Schuyler sister, "I do believe I owe you a dance, Miss Maid of Honour."

Peggy's head shot up at hearing the words etched into her arm and locked eyes with John, "R-right! Sorry, I wasn't expecting that. I normally get forgotten."

Both their forearms started glowing and they looked at me. I just gave them a look which said, 'I've known for a while'. I then tapped Charles on the shoulder, getting his attention as I motioned for us to walk off, leaving the soulmates to discuss the situation.

I will just leave this here. Not much with Charles, but ehh...##
