Time: Hamiltime

------------------

"On Tuesday, the twenty-seventh, Lieutenant Colonel John Laurens was killed in a gunfight against British troops in South Carolina. These troops had not yet received word from Yorktown that the war was over. He's buried here until his family can send for his remains. As you may know, Lieutenant Colonel Laurens was engaged in recruiting three thousand men for the first all-black military regiment. The surviving members of this regiment have been returned to their masters."

I was in tears when I read that letter. Me and John had been so close growing up so hearing this news devastated me. I had written a letter to Alex to tell him what happened and he replied that I was to come and live with them, knowing that I would probably lock myself in my room and not come out for ages.

I packed all my stuff and got a carriage to the Hamilton residence, silently looking out the window throughout the journey. The carriage eventually arrived and I got out paying the driver and walking up to the door and knocking. Eliza opened it, "(Y/n)! Come in!" I walked in silently and took my shoes off.

"I'll take your bag to your room for you," she said taking my bag from me. "Eliza, it's fine I can bring it myself. I'm just not right today."

"I know and I know it will take a while to get over it." She continued up to the guest room and I walked into the living room sitting on the sofa and silently crying.

-----------------------

I must have fallen asleep because I woke up on the bed in the guest room. I heard a knock on the door, "Come in," I said sitting up. The door opened to reveal Hercules.

"Oh, hey Herc. How did you know I was here?"

"Well, I tried your house, but you weren't there and then I remembered something in one of your letters saying you were staying with Alex for a while. So, I came here. Eliza let me in and told me that you would probably need cheering up, so, I know what to do," he said coming to sit of the bed after closing the door, "Your brother talked a lot about you, you know. He thought you were awesome and brave for joining us in the revolution."

"He thought I was awesome? Really?"

"Definitely!"

"How?"

"Well," he spoke coming closer to me and getting on the bed properly, "He said: 'There's nothing like your smile sort of subtle and perfect and real.' He said: 'You never knew how wonderful that smile make someone feel.'" I felt my face heat up and Herc continued, "And he knew whenever you get bored you scribble stars on the cuffs of your jeans and he noticed that you still fill out the quizzes that they put in those teen magazines." I felt my face go even redder, "But he kept it all inside his head, what he saw he left unsaid and though he wanted to, he couldn't talk to you, he couldn't find the way but he would always say: 'If I could tell her, tell her everything I see. If I could tell her how she's everything to me but we're a million worlds apart and I don't know how I would even start. If I could tell her. If I could tell her'"

I smiled, "Did he say anything else?"

I saw him tense up, "A-About you?"

"Never mind, I don't really care anyway," I said waving my hands in front of me.

"No, no, no.. just, no, no.. he said.. he said so many things, I'm just.. I'm trying to remember the best ones. So, um.. he thought you looked really pretty, er.. It looked pretty cool when you wore that purple dress that one time."

"He did?"

"And he wondered how you learned to dance like all the rest of the world isn't there, but he kept it all inside his head, what he saw he left unsaid. 'If I could tell her, tell her everything I see. If I could tell her how she's everything to me'."

"But we're a million worlds apart."

"And I don't know how I would even start. If I could tell her. If I could tell her, but what do you do when there's this great divide?"

"He just seemed so far away."

"And what do you do when the distance is too wide?"

"It's like I don't know anything."

"And how do you say, 'I love you'? I love you, I love you, I love you. But we're a million worlds apart and I don't know how I would even start. 'If I could tell her, if I could."

"Herc are you really talking about my brother or someone else? Specifically you?"

I noticed he was blushing slightly and I decided to just go for it. I jumped on him, smashing my lips on him seeing his eyes widen and his blush increasingly furiously.

"I love you too, Herc. You didn't have to sing a whole song, you could have just told me straight," I said kissing him again. We were so caught up that we didn't notice the door opening, "Holy Merde. Qu'est-ce que je vois en ce moment?"

We broke apart at the sound of Laf's voice and our faces were bright red, "Je dois le dire à Alexander! Il attend ça! Il me doit 10 dollars!" He ran out of the room and downstairs shouting, "Le Alexander! Tu me posséde! C'est finalement arrivé! J'ai vu (Y/n) et Hercule s'embrasser!"

We ignored him and just snuggled up on the bed, my head resting on his shoulder, "I love you."

"I love you too."

The door then burst open and we heard a shout, "Is it true!? Do I really have to pay Laf?"

"Is what true Alex?"

"Are you two courting?"

"Well, (Y/n), are we? Would you do the honour of courting me?" Herc asked me.

"Now that is a stupid question! Of course!" I shouted pulling his shirt into me and kissing him again.

"Shit!" We heard Alex shout leaving the room and muttering to himself. We then heard, "MERCI! (Y/n)! Herc!"

I shouted back, "Tu es les bienvenus Laf!"
