Other notes: This is based on 'The Sound of Music' film, so quite a lot of the dialogue is taken from that. Also, I'm smushing together all of Jefferson's kids I've made in various universes cause I need 7 kids, and I'm not having a repeat of the Hamiltons.... Took me ages to design them all... so using the ones I already have.

"WHAT?!"
"(Y/n), calm down, Sweetheart."
"You expect me to be calm when you're carting me off to an unknown place to be a governess for a load of kids?!" I retorted, a completely horrified look on my face as I started at my parents in shock.
"You need to get out into the world, (Y/n). You've been cooped up in your room for ages. Mr Jefferson is a very nice man."
"That makes no difference! I've never met him, or his children before. You know how I am in new situations!"
Despite my protests, I ended up on a carriage to Monticello. I sighed as I looked out the carriage, as I started muttering to try and build my confidence, "What will this day be like? I wonder. What will my future be? I wonder. It could be so exciting to be out in the world, to be free. My heart should be wildly rejoicing, oh, what's the matter with me?" I sang, as I tried to calm myself. I continued singing, losing track of the time until the driver caught my attention, "Miss (Y/n). We've arrived."
I got out before thanking him, turning to face the house. I then noticed just how big it was, "Oh help." I took a deep breath and opened the gate, "I have confidence in confidence alone... despite which you see, I have confidence in me." I closed the gate behind me and walked up to the front door, taking another deep breath, and knocking on the door. It was soon opened by a relatively young looking girl, not much older than me, "You must be (Y/n)! Come on. I'm Sally, the housekeeper."
"Yes, I am. Nice to meet you, Sally," I replied, as she let me in, "Wait here." I nodded and she walked off, leaving me alone in the hallway. I managed to resist the urge to be curious, and soon a southern accented voice caught my attention, "Hello there, Darlin'. You must be (Y/n)."
I nodded and turned around to be met with a man clad head to toe in various shades of magenta, "Yes, Sir! I'm (Y/n)."
"I assume your parents told you what you'll be doin', right, Darlin'?"
I nodded, "Yes, Mr Jefferson."
"Well, that makes things a bit easier," he replied before knocking the cane he was carrying on the ground a few times. Around the house, I could hear a few doors opening and closing and soon, seven children were standing on the upper landing, before they started to walk down the stairs and into a line in front of where Mr Jefferson and I were standing.
"I'd like you all to meet your new governess, (Y/n). Step forward and state your names."
One by one the children took a step forward and gave me their names, but it was so quick that I was unable to remember who was who very well. Soon, I was left alone with the children, "You can be at ease," I spoke, causing them all to sigh in relief, "Now, please could you all tell me your names again, and how old you are?" I continued, motioning to the oldest girl to start. She smiled and stood forward, "I'm Melody, I'm 16. I do not need a governess."
