I'm gonna make this into a Philip x Reader btw!
----------------10 years later (Age 19)
Another day when I got to come in to help Father at work. It was fun as it let me see Philip, I had grown quite the crush on him since our first meeting and seeing him almost every other day made that crush bloom into a full on 'I'm in love with this guy to the point that I can't even talk to him without my face going red.'
However, this time was slightly different, Father had entrusted me to lead the cabinet meeting and I was nervous, despite the fact he said he would take my opinion as whatever would be done. I was also nervous because I knew Hamilton would be bringing Philip, making it pretty much impossible for me to concentrate.
I walked into the meeting room to see Hamilton and Jefferson already sitting. Jefferson talking to James and Hamilton talking to Philip. They all turned towards me when I entered.
"Is there a problem gentlemen?" I said giving them all a glare.
"Nope."
"Good, now, The issue on the table, France is on the verge of war with England, and do we provide aid and troops to our French allies or do we stay out of it, remember. My decision on this matter is not subject to congressional approval, the only person you have to convince is me. Secretary Jefferson, you have the floor, sir," I continued walking up to the chair my father would normally sit in and sitting down.
"When we were on death's door, when we were needy we made a promise, we signed a treaty. We needed money and guns and half a chance. Who provided those funds?"
"France," James spoke as Jefferson had given him the mic.
"In return, they didn't ask for land, only a promise that we'd lend a hand and stand with them if they fought against oppressors and revolution is messy but now is the time to stand, stand with our brothers as they fight against tyranny. I know that Alexander Hamilton is here and he would rather not have this debate. I'll remind you that he is not Secretary of State, he knows nothing of loyalty, smells like new money, dresses like fake royalty, desperate to rise above his station. Everything he does betrays the ideals of our nation. Hey, and if ya don't know, now ya know, Ma'am," Jefferson finished, smirking.
"Thank you, Secretary Jefferson, Secretary Hamilton, your response."
You must be out of your Goddamn mind if you think the President's daughter is gonna bring the nation to the brink of meddling in the middle of a military mess, a game of chess, where France is Queen and Kingless. We signed a treaty with a King whose head is now in a basket, would you like to take it out and ask it, 'Should we honor our treaty, King Louis' head?' 'Uh do whatever you want, I'm super dead'."
"Enough, Hamilton is right."
"Ma'am.."
"We're too fragile to start another fight."
"But ma'am, do we not fight for freedom?"
"Will you let me get a Goddamn word out Jefferson!? Please. When the French figure out whos gonna lead em."
"The people are leading!"
"JEFFERSON PLEASE! The people are rioting! Theres a difference! Frankly its a little disquieting you would let your ideals blind you to reality! Hamilton?"
"Ma'am," He recovered from laughing at me shouting at Jefferson.
"Draft a statement of neutrality."
I stood up and left the room trying to find my father. I eventually found him, "I have no idea how you deal with them everyday father, they're both a pain in the ass."
"Well, you get used to it."
----------Meanwhile - PHILIP'S POV
I was overjoyed when I found out the (Y/n) would be leading the meeting that day because it would give me time just to stare at her. Anyway, after (Y/n) had left and we were about to, Jefferson spoke up, "Did you forget Lafayette?"
Father turned round, "What?"
"Have you an ounce of regret? You accumulate debt, you accumulate power. Yet in their hour of need, you forget. "
I decided I didn't want to put up with them arguing, "Father can I go and find (Y/n), I want to tell her something."
"Well if it isn't the mini Hamilton," Jefferson stated taunting me.
"For your information Mr. Jefferson I am not mini! I am nineteen and you are a pain in the ass!" I walked off to find (Y/n), leaving Jefferson with a shocked look on his face and father looking triumphant.
YOUR POV
I had been talking to Father for a while when there was a knock on the door, "Come in." They entered, "Mr. Washington, can I please talk to (Y/n)?"
"Of course, you don't need to ask my permission to talk to her, Philip."
I stood up and followed Philip out. As soon as we were in a secluded area he let go of me and we sat down, "(Y/n), I have something I need to say."
"Well, I'm listening."
"I've fallen head over heals for you. I can't understand it! I've never felt this way with anyone before. You're just perfect, and I guess what I'm trying to say is 'I love you.' I know you probably don't love me back, I'm just going to go," He stood up and started running away, "Goddamnit Hamilton." I stood up and followed him running fasted to catch up with him. I grabbed his wrist, and spun him round before kissing him, "I love you too Philip, you didn't give me a chance to reply." I kissed him again.
"Finally!" We heard someone shout and immediately broke apart red as to tomatoes.
"Dad! Really how old are you?" Philip shouted to his father. I started laughing.
"I don't know why you're laughing, (Y/n). Philip's not the only one that should be shouting!"
I turned round, "Father! You're here too!"
"Yep, we knew you both had feelings for each other. This was just part of our plan to get you two to confess. I purposely let you take charge of the meeting and I was the one that told Hamilton to bring Philip. Knowing that if he saw you were leading the meeting he would want to speak to you afterwards and hopefully confess, which is what happened."
