Requested?: No

Prompt: None

Type of oneshot: Fluff/Kinda songfic

Song Used: Hellfire - Hunchback of Notre Dame

Timing: Royalty AU (On this. It's basically modern time with a war going on, so this is how I decided to do it, but like Britain and America are neighbouring kingdoms rather than countries separated by the Atlantic.)

Reader's Relations: Washington's daughter

Warnings: King George being a (Kinda) dick towards the reader (and doing some 'mildly' inappropriate stuff... not like too inappropriate, just invading her personal space a lot and not stopping when he's asked to)

Other notes: This came to me whilst watching the Hunchback of Notre Dame a few days ago... might not include the song... we'll see where my brain takes me... also, due to the nature of the oneshot, there will be points when Washington is referred to as 'king', but I'll try to keep it to 'Your Majesty' as to not confuse with British King George.

-------------------------------

"Come on, Father, please!"

"(Y/n), I am not letting you fight in a war! You could die."

"So could you, or any of the other soldiers fighting! You've seen how agile I am!" I retorted.

"My answer is still no, (Y/n)."

"Fine," I replied, turning around and leaving the room, "Well, I'm going to go for a walk. I'll be back before dinner."

----------------------

However, whilst I was out, I'd forgotten to keep an eye on my surroundings, and felt a pain in the back of my head before falling unconscious. When I awoke I was in a surprisingly neat bedroom, that definitely wasn't mine. I then realised that I'd been captured, a British flag hanging on the wall.

"I was wondering when you would wake up."

"Get away from me! Why the Hell did you kidnap me anyway?"

"Isn't it simple, my dear? You're my bartering material."

I rolled my eyes, "Let me guess, your plan is to use me to get my father to let up on this war between the two kingdoms? Like he gets me back in exchange for surrendering?"

"You're smarter than I thought," the British king replied, taking my chin in his hand, "Although, you are a beautiful one."

"Get off me!" I screamed, kicking him in the stomach.

"I'd advise you not to do that, Miss. You see, you're in my castle. No one is going to come to your rescue."

----------------------HERC'S POV

"Mulligan!"

"Yes, Sire?" I replied, saluting as I walked over.

"You haven't seen (Y/n) have you? Has she returned?"

I shook my head, "I'm sorry Sire, I haven't seen her. Did she go out for a walk?" The king sighed, nodding, "she said she would be back before dinner. I would very much appreciate it if you went to look for her, and take Hamilton and Laurens with you. Strength in numbers."

"Yes, Sire! Of course-"

"YOUR MAJESTY!"

"What is it Abigail?" The king asked, turning to the seemingly distressed maid, a piece of (F/c) fabric in her hand.

"I was out getting some fruit and vegetables from the market, and I came across this in a bush," she replied, lifting the fabric up for him to see better. I let out a gasped, seeing it as well, and the king turned to me, allowing me to speak, "Sire, with all do respect, may I please examine that piece of fabric?"

"I don't see why not. It's just fabric."

I nodded and Abigail handed the fabric to me. After a few minutes, I felt my heart rate increase, "This is from (Y/n)'s dress. It's the exact same material in the exact same colour, and judging by the fact that she hasn't returned from her walk when she said she'd be back for dinner, as much as I do not wish to say it, I have a feeling she's been kidnapped Sire. Probably King George's doing. Thinks he can use her as bartering material to get you to give up."

"You got all that from one scrap of fabric?"

"Mulligan. You have one job now; get her back."

"Yes, Sire. I'll make it top of my priorities list!"

----------------------------YOUR POV

I sighed, hiding at the back of the room as there was a knock at the door. I stayed quiet, hoping it wasn't one of King George's guards, but happy when it was a voice I recognised, "(Y/n)?"

"Hercules? I-Is that you?" I whispered, coming out of my hiding place and walking up to him, in my weakened state; my dress a bit tatty and now too loose for me as I was being fed the bare minimum to keep me alive.

"Goodness, are they starving you?"

"Bare minimum. What are you doing here?"

"Rescuing you of course; King's orders. Now, listen to me, I need you to pretend to be dead, okay? I'm going to carry you out and try to keep hidden, the playing dead is in case we're spotted, then you'll see my reasoning, but hopefully we won't get spotted."

I nodded, "That I can do, I feel like I'm going to faint anyway," I replied, starting to lose my balance, and falling into him.

"I got you, mind if I lift you up?"

I shook my head and he lifted me up, bridal style, causing my face to heat up a bit as I now started to play dead, allowing my body to go limp in his arms.

—------------------------

Some time later, I woke up lying back in my own bed, with my nightgown on. Well, I must have fallen asleep while pretending to be dead...I then noticed Hercules sitting in the chair in my room that I normally used when I was knitting, except he was sewing something.

"Hercules?"

"Your Highness!" he exclaimed, his head shooting up at the sound of my voice, "You're alright. I'll go and ask the cooks to prepare you something to eat and inform your parents immediately."

"Wait," I whispered, catching his arm as he walked past my bed, "I want to say thank you first. Can you come closer?"

"Of course, Your Highness, it's my duty to protect you," he responded coming closer, but not too close as I giggled, "I meant closer," before I leaned up and kissed him, seeing his shocked face as he brought a hand up to my cheek, "I love you. I'm so glad Father said we could marry whoever we wanted to."

"I-I love you too, Your Highness."

"Herc, when you say something like that, please, use my first name, not the title."

"Of course, I love you too, (Y/n)," he reworded, smiling at me. I returned the smile, just in time for the door to burst open, and for my mother to run in, "(Y/n)! You're alright!" She then turned to Hercules, "Thank you for rescuing her!"

"Just doing my job of protecting the royal family, Your Majesty," Herc replied as my mother wrapped him in a hug.

-------------------------END OF ONESHOT

Yeah... so this didn't have much to do with the song. It was originally supposed to be more King George x Reader, with him singing the song a few days after the reader has been kidnapped, but then I thought of the Herc x reader aspect and it stemmed into this. But let me know if you'd like to see the original idea too.
