Other notes:

This went through a load of different characters, then I remembered I have no oneshots for Peggy, so I picked her.

Reader has family who live in England.

Reader often refers to Peggy as 'My bear' as an affectionate nickname because she gives great hugs.

For the purpose of the oneshot, Alex has the ability/power to officiate a marriage.

----------------------------

I took a deep breath as I took out my phone, dialling the number of my girlfriend, "Hey, Pegs."

"(Y/n)! Wait a minute, shouldn't you be on a plane?"

I sighed, "I'm sorry Pegs. My flight got cancelled so I'm going to have to stay with my parents. I'm so sorry. I know we wanted to spend Christmas Day together."

I could hear the disappointment in her voice as she spoke, "It's alright (Y/n). You can't control the planes."

"I know, but I still feel bad," I muttered, trying to hide the smile on my face as I stood outside the airport, my headphones plugged in so she couldn't hear anything apart from my voice, "I'll try to get a flight on the 27th, but I hope you will still have a good Christmas with your family."

PEGGY'S POV

I tried to hide the disappointment on my face as I hung up the call, turning to face my sisters. Immediately they both hugged me and I collapsed, sobbing, "I just wanted our first Christmas together."

"We know, Pegs, but it's not (Y/n)'s fault. We can still have a great day," Eliza spoke, releasing me from the hug. I could hear a bit of happiness in her voice, but I ignored it, not wanting to make a fuss as I nodded sadly, "Yeah, I guess."

----------------------

Several hours later, our friends joined us, and after we'd done all the presents and stuff, I was fighting the urge to run and hide upstairs seeing Eliza and Alexander being all 'coupley', it just reminded me that (Y/n) wasn't there. Before I could escape upstairs, the doorbell rang. I looked around, questioning if we were missing anyone, but before I could come to any conclusions, Angie had placed a hand on shoulder, "I think you should go and get that, Peggy." I looked up at her and no one else objected so I stood up and walked to the door, opening it. Once I had I literally squealed, "(Y/n)!"

YOUR POV

I smiled as Peggy squeezed me in a tight hug, "I thought your flight got cancelled?"

I let out a nervous chuckle and rubbed the back of my neck, "Well, that was a lie... I wanted to surprise you. Plus I had to stop and get this," I replied, digging into the bag that was on my shoulder, before stopping, "Actually I'll give it to you inside."

She nodded and we walked back inside, me being greeted by everyone, one standing out, "Aunty (Y/n)! Did you bring me a present from England?" I giggled and bent down to his height, "Now why would I do that?" I asked, messing with him. He just pouted, causing me to chuckle, "Of course I did," I responded, digging into my bag and pulling out a wrapped package, handing it to him. His face lit up as his little five-year-old hands started pulling off the paper, an excited look on his face as he did so. Once the paper was gone, which Eliza quickly disposed of, it being too torn to be reused, Philip's face lit up even more and he hugged the bear, "Thank you! Did you ask Aunty Peggy yet?" I smiled and returned the hug he gave me, "You're welcome, Pip. You need to remember to be careful with him though," I spoke, ignoring his question. Philip nodded and went to sit on the sofa, hugging the bear even more. As I stood back up, I felt arms wrap around my waist, "Did you have something to ask me?"

I took a deep breath and dug my hand back into my bag, pulling out a small wrapped box and handing it to her. Without saying anything, I detangled myself from her grip and walked upstairs to our bedroom, starting to unpack my things.

PEGGY'S POV

Once (Y/n) walked off upstairs my attention was drawn back to the wrapped package in my hands. I carefully undid the paper and realised it was a velvet box. I opened it up and nearly dropped it after seeing the contents; a beautiful ring and a small teddy bear, which I guessed Jen, (Y/n)'s sister, had made, knowing of her liking for crafts, holding a small sing, which said 'I can bear-ly imagine my life without you in it. Will you marry me?' on it. I giggled and took the ring out, carefully placing the box on a nearby coffee table as I put the ring on my finger, before running upstairs, not saying anything to any of my sisters/friends.

YOUR POV

As I was finishing putting my stuff away, I felt a tap on my shoulder. As I turned around, I felt pressure on my lips, "Yes. I'd love to marry you, (Y/n)." I breathed a sigh of relief and hugged Peggy, "That makes me so happy to hear, I love you."

"I love you too, (Y/n)."

"You know, we could make this official right now..."

We turned to the doorway to see our friends/Peggy's sisters, standing there, Alexander standing at the front him being the one to have spoken, Philip standing beside him cutely as he held two rings, causing my face to go red, knowing that, probably, Eliza had bought them after I told her my plan, her knowing there was no way Peggy would say no. I turned to my girlfriend, well, fiancée as she now was and raised an eyebrow, "Want to make it official?" she nodded and we set up a makeshift wedding in the garden, it being a beautiful snow-filled day, adding to it better as Peggy walked down our homemade aisle in Eliza's old wedding dress, it looking absolutely gorgeous on the youngest Schuyler sister.

"Do you, (Y/n) (M/n) (L/n) take Peggy Schuyler to be your lawfully wedded wife? Do you promise to love and cherish her til the very end?" Alex asked, as he held a random book in front of him, pretending to struggle to read it with his glasses on. I giggled and nodded, "I do."

"And do you Peggy Schuyler take (Y/n) (M/n) (L/n) to be your lawfully wedded wife? Do you promise to love and cherish her til the very end?" Peggy nodded very enthusiastically, "I do!" We exchanged rings, being handed to us by Philip before he stood back beside his mother, who was Peggy's maid of honour, mine being Angelica.

"In that case, I now pronounce you married! You may kiss the bride!" Alex continued, as he closed the random book I now recognised as my copy of Oliver Twist. I smiled and took Peggy's cheek in my hand, kissing her.
