MYRA'S POV
The minute we stepped on the second and the last floor of the building, I pressed Siddharth's hand harder, stopping him in his tracks.
He still had a faint smile on, eyes full of curiosity and I only hoped for them to shine more once the questions in them were answered.
"Irada kya hai apka, madam?" His voice came out hushed, I too was panting lightly after all the running we did.
[What are your intentions, miss?]
As badly as I wanted to keep the surprise on till the very last minute, the grin on my face just wouldn't go away, no matter how hard I tried.
The man in the front being my husband, he probably understood more from my smile than most people understood my words.
"Jayda bure nahi hai." With a sheepish smile, I shook my head and took a step forward.
[Not too bad (intentions).]
Seeing me nearing, Siddharth raised his brows. The corners of his lips curved, but as a consequence my guts coiled and every wall inside tickled.
By a mere cocky grin! Damn it!
"Thik to bilkul nahi lag rahe apke irade biwi ji."
[Your intentions seem anything but pure, my dear wife.]
"Dar gaye?" [So? Scared?]
I kept forwarding my steps, until the only way I could move ahead was to melt and trickle inside his skin drop by drop.
But if such an option had really existed, I would probably have chosen that.
"Tumhare pass ane se?"
[From you coming closer?]
All the boldness acting up in me vanished away the very second he took a step forward.
Slow, deliberate, heart-thumping..
Holding onto the thin rope of firmness, I glued my foot to the ground and clasped my uneven pulse tight in deep heavy breaths and hasty eye movements between the different films of his gaze.
Siddharth leaned forward to match our height and my heart shivered at the proximity. "Kabhi nahi." [Never.]
The whisper, warm and slow, barely touched the surface of my skin but there wasn't a fibre deep inside me which didn't flickered or reacted to his touch when he tucked a strand of hair behind my ear.
There was something in his gaze, his eyes on me. I could feel its weight, the effect on every freaking cell as if they conversed with corners of me I hadn't seen in years.
"Ssh, bas aab." I covered his eyes with my palm, hid them before they could see past one more wall around my heart.
[Ssh..that's enough.]
Siddharth just smiled, a silly boyish grin but even that caused my stomach to flip. "Ankhe band karne se kya hoga Myra? Tumhe dekhne ke liye mujhe inki jarurat vaise bhi nahi hai."
God damn it!
[What will you gain from covering my eyes, Myra? I don't need them to see you anyways.]
A few cheesy words and every part of the surprise I planned for weeks almost vanished from my brain? I clearly needed better self control; especially in front of him.
The man whose eyes, though covered, the magic in them still stayed on my skin like a permanent tattoo; imprinted deep into my skin.
And maybe I wasn't weak, and those weren't just some cheeky words said without any backing.
