SIDDHARTH'S POV
"What's in this survival kit of yours huh?" I questioned while throwing the little backpack she brought over my shoulder.
It wasn't heavy at all, which meant no gun. Not like it could help us if we witness an already dead anyways.
Myra continued to walk ahead of, with a tiny v between her brows as she narrowed her eyes to look through the scant light thrown by the flashlight in her grip. She took it out from the bag on my back only.
I liked staying behind her, it gave me a clear view, like how people keep their treasure in sight to make sure it stayed unharmed.
"Oh it-aah!" As Myra looked back at my question, a camouflaged rock in the dark bumped to the back of her foot.
"Pearl!" A sudden yelp escaped my mouth as I leaped forward, desperate to wrap my arm around her waist to catch her.
"Careful." Just when I thought I had caught her, apparently whatever spirit was roaming around didn't like it.
Myra tried to grip my shoulder to balance her but all that came between her fingers was the fabric of my shirt. The moment she pulled me, I slipped.
Those damn dried leaves!!
Our groan, in unison, echoed in whatever hall or corridor we were in. It was too dark to ascertain that, the situation wasn't ideal either as we both lowered down to the ground.
Everything happened in mere seconds, before I could even react. My back hit the ground and Myra fell on the top of me. The same leaves which made us fall, made that fall gentler too and the bag on my back helped as well.
I stilled, breathed like it was forbidden. Her luscious black locks, falling to the side of my head, blocked the light ray of moonlight coming through but I liked the dusk under them more than any light anyways.
The moment, her timid yet entrancing gaze on my eyes (that held nothing but evidences of my heart pounding like a drum), her nails digging onto my shoulders, my right arm secured around her waist holding her right on the top of me,
.....all of it felt too delicate, one blink and everything would just vanish into the thin air and the remains would only be that of fire, a magical one.
My eyes fell, shamelessly tracing the slightest motion her throat did as she gulped.
A single drop of sweat slid through her neck, falling into the hidden trails inside her t-shirt.
I rolled my tongue backwards, shoving away whatever ill thoughts crossed my mind.
The ground beneath me might as well open up and engulf me, because this intoxication of our proximity was driving me nuts, bit by bit.
It had to be the first time, I let my gaze be unapologetically bold; Half because I simply wasn't capable of doing otherwise, hiding behind any curtain anymore and half because her blinking eyes and parted lips which twitched lightly whispered that, I could.
"You look stunning from here too." Very Stunning, that I wished to stay under her for however much of my breathes were left.
Just like that, the bubble popped. One whispery ramble from me and the fragile second cracked like a glass.
But the thought was so loud in my mind,
I couldn't hold it in even if I intentionally tried to.
This time the raw thought spilled out of my tongue, not only through the eyes.
