SIDDHARTH'S POV

After having the second most life-changing night of my life, first being the night I became a husband, right on my birthday, as I turned 31, I slept like a baby.

Slept; like worry was a foreign word, as if clouds lowered down for me to rest at and all the good things of my share in the universe laid by my side with her arm spread across my torso carelessly.

By far, last night had to be one of the best sleep I ever had in my life.

We woke up late in the afternoon, that too due to multiple missed calls from India from our family and friends to wish me for a birthday, that my wife had already made the most memorable one.

First birthday with the gem of my life and every second is already shining like diamonds I never knew I could afford.

But what I hadn't expected was being kicked out on the evening of my birthday by the same woman who went lengths to make it special for me.

"Do not come back before night, I have a lot to prepare."

That's all I got. I had barely woken up, hardly got the time to have an apple before I was pushed out of the doors.

With just my phone and wallet on me, and an outfit she very graciously had asked me to put on before going out, I pretty much had nothing to do.

"You can do the meetings you were talking about." Myra had suggested.

While I had to hold back a scoff. Meetings?

Like I travelled more than 2000 miles to meet some corporate puppet and buy a piece of land? Like I didn't have a whole freaking team assigned for it already working in the country, for years now?

Like she didn't know it was her who pulled me here? That my free schedule in Mumbai and random work in Singapore, at the exact time of her conference wasn't any coincidence?

Did my wife have no idea about the contracts I broke to spend every minute of my day near her? Was she clueless about how big of a loser her husband had become, or that his sun doesn't shine right, and the air doesn't feel the same until she breathes near him?

I shook my head, grinning mockingly at myself as I roamed the almost empty streets aimlessly after being outcasted for my own surprise.

God the self awareness I harboured for the trouble I was deep in and yet how I loved it! After all, they were right about being fools when you are in love.

Especially when you love someone who seems like an eternal star meant for heavens accidentally sent on the earth.

After almost thirty minutes of pretending I was enjoying the architecture of the street like a fascinated tourist, I gave up and took some shelter in a random cafe.

I had come here with no actual "company's" work, but that didn't mean it would remain so for long.

Grabbing a seat near the window, I ordered a coffee and started suffering through some final designs for the interior of the Villa 27 project on my phone.

The peculiar designer I met a few days back, when myra was busy with the conference, had a distinct but somehow captivating taste.

There was one thing I loved the most about work. It made the clock move faster. I didn't even realise when the sky outside wore its dark coat, and the daylight got ready to leave.

However all my focus shattered, the straight face I had on faded and the frown between my brows fell to my lips, curving them upwards instead, as I read the notification displaying on the screen.
