Manny handed Joey the book and he began to read. "I'm getting close to finding the Statue of Era. His power is both terrifying and intoxicating. Many have died seeking to obtain it."
Safiya: I'm thinking this has gotta be our next artifact.
"After gathering their obituaries, I discovered that their deaths have been secretly chronicled in 'Adventures of Allan Quatermain.' There's something about placing the volumes in their proper order that will reveal the statue. The painting holds the key." Joey finished. "Painting?" he asked, everyone looking around the room.
"Okay, so we need books." Joey looked back at the journal, "Oh, wait, it says six books." he announced while Ro found a book and held it up. Richard looked and announced, "Guys, Ro found one!" while pointing to the book.
"That's his name." she innocently said while everyone looked seeing it was by one Allan Quatermain. Everyone ran off to find the books when Manny flipped through the pages until he found the painting on one of the pages.
Manny: As we're flipping through the book, we also see another page that's a painting, and we realize that this painting has six people in it.
Richard looked up and saw it behind him, "The painting!" Roi shouted as they walked up to it. "It looks like we're gonna have to place the six books in front of the picture in a certain order." MatPat suggested.
Manny: We need to find these books, one, and we need to match up these books to a murder that happened, two, and we need to figure out where the hell to place them.
The group looked around to find the books written by Allan Quartemain, Richard doing a fake posh British accent as he looked. "Think we got four." Safiya announced to the group.
Richard looked at the table with the books and the painting, "We have all six, you can stop looking!" Richard yelled to the people still searching. Joey flipped through the pages of the book from the body.
"There's a photo in here that looks- It's a book holder." Joey said, showing the book to everyone. "So I think- Oh, that's where we place them in order!" Joey said, pointing at MatPat, behind the theorist was the bookholder shown in the book.
"Well, we still need the obituaries-" Richard began when Joey announced he found the obituaries in a secret pocket in the book pages. "Oh, well ain't that f*cking convenient." Richard said before grabbing the obituaries.
Safiya: Each of these obituaries have a pretty detailed description of how all these people died
"Sarah G. was eaten alive by flesh-eating beetles, eww." Richard said reading the first paper. "So that would be... this one!" Richard added holding up the correct book.
MatPat: And we find out the causes of their deaths actually line up with the books of Allan Quartermain. So we use the pictures in the obituaries to match them up with their appropriate adventurer in this painting.
"OK, this guy was crucified by the Black Order Cult." Richard read again, "That's 'The Evil Cross." Safiya said grabbing the book and moving under the correct adventurer.
"Alright, ooo, Danielle impaled by trident. Someone must have got Posiedon angry." Richard read afterward, everyone found the correct book and put it in the proper place.
Safiya: With the information, we're able to line up the books in the order they're supposed to go.
Everyone found the order the books were supposed to go in, and Richard told six of the eight to hold one book and gave them a number according to the order they got. He counted from one to six, each person going up to the shelf on their number and placing their book.
Richard: We finally get the books in the correct order, and suddenly...
A few seconds pass when a secret door in the lounge opens like a drawbridge. Everyone looked in its direction and saw the Statue of Era on a pedestal.
Richard (cont.): A wall falls and there's a secret room with the statue.
Everyone slowly started to walk towards the room. "That looks demonic." Joey stated, "We're not in Everlock anymore, Toto." MatPat joked, and Richard snarkily replied, "If only we could tap our heels and go home."
Roi: This secret door opens up and inside there's a creepy-looking statue.
MatPat: It must be the Statue of Era.
"Oh, there's a box." Richard noticed it sitting in front of the statue.
Safiya: Inside the box, there's a note and a bunch of straws.
Safiya started to read the note, "The Statue of Era infects all who touches it." "Oh no! Did we just touch it?" Joey asks, scared of what could happen. "That was the box we touched, Joey." Richard said, hand on his shoulder.
Richard: There's no killer clowns or deadly snakes, but there is a statue that can kill you if you touch it. Hooray! (jazz hands)
Safiya continued, "To purify the corrupted idol, five ancient stones must be placed at its feet." She pointed toward the statue, "That's those holes, probs."
She read again, "To find the stones you must assemble two hunting parties by drawing straws from the box. The two with the short straws will be the party leaders. Starting with the youngest leader, they will take turns picking their team. The group to recover the stones will be safe from the final challenge. However, The Man With No Name protects his gems, and his touch removes you from the hunt for five minutes. Your only sanctuary is under a red light."
MatPat: So the short straws end up being the team captains. Short straw Number 1: Manny. Short Straw Number 2: Richard.
Richard: What is with my luck tonight?
"Welp, I know I'm the youngest." Richard and Manny went to the front of the lounge standing away from each other. "School yard pick, huh?" MatPat joked. "Speaking of which, Mr. Theorist." Richard said, performing the 'get over here' finger motion.
"Then I pick Safiya." Manny announced, the two smartest youtubers walking to the respective team. "Miss Cinnamon Roll." Richard said looking at Ro, the little woman walking over.
"I pick Joey." Manny announced, Joey walked over. "Good choice." Joey said to the man, "I know." Manny responded. Richard looked between the two left. Who to choose, the smart one or the protective one, JC or Roi, he finally chose. "JC."
"Why didn't I get a nickname?" he asked the young man, "Couldn't think of one." he flatly responded as Roi walked to Manny's team. Everyone went over the rules with each other before walking out of the arcade.
