Escape the Night: Season 3 (My Way + Self-Insert OC)

The Revive

The intro begins to play. The moon shines over a bird's eye view of the town. Teala and Nikita are shown tied to the merry-go-round as High Tower and Sally Slaughter are about to slam their weapons into them. JC is tied to a wonder wheel as the lead clown throws a knife narrowly missing him. MatPat is shown running from the funhouse before showing Roi narrowly missing being chomped by the jaws. Safiya and Manny are shown chained and trying to run from The Carnival Master, who holds their chains as the Demon Dog is by his side. Richard is shown in front of the graveyard holding a sharpened stick, Ro is then quickly shown running from something unseen before panning to Joey, standing in the middle of the town handing the camera a ticket.

Escape The Night

Thirty minutes have passed since Joey and Richard brought someone back with the harp. Richard paced around the room with the harp in hand. "Joey, Richard, what's going on." Manny asked, the two recipients turning to him.

Rosanna: It's been 30 minutes since Richie played the harp, and nothing is happening. I'm, like, trying to just, like, will it to work. I don't know, maybe if you just put your feelings into it.

"This harp is faulty." Manny said causing Richard to pace even faster. Joey clenched his hands together, "Please work, please work, please work." he repeated. "It's not gonna work, is it?" Ro asked before Richard talked again, "I don't know I did exactly what it said." he began listing the things he did for the harp to work. "I don't know why he isn't here yet." he ended with, accidentally giving the group a clue into who he and Joey chose.

Safiya: I thought that the harp was gonna work. Maybe it's just another game.

Manny began to say how he was worried that if it worked the person would come back with a vengeance when someone knocked on the door.

Joey: So there's a knock at the door, and I think I know who it is.

Joey walked to the door and opened it, "Hello?" he called out to see no one there. He looked down to see a bright green briefcase on the ground. He picked it up and returned to the group, "It was just this briefcase." he said. "DAMMIT!" Richard yelled before throwing the harp onto one of the many soft surfaces in the room.

Joey:  Huh, not- not what I was expecting, but I can see why he would do that.

Richard walked to where Ro was on the couch and hugged her. They sat down and he cried into her shoulder as Joey placed the briefcase on the coffee table and Manny grabbed the harp and placed it on the Lazarus box. "I know who that belonged to." Mortimer said, pointing to the briefcase, the group, that wasn't the two Rs, looking in confusion.

"Some deadbeat insurance salesman." Mortimer added before Joey asked, "So you know who this case belongs to? How do you know?" Mortimer responded immediately, "I mean, I used to. He lived in the town." Joey unlocked the briefcase as Safiya asked, "You said he was an insurance salesman?" "I don't trust insurance people." Ro said as Richard lifted off her shoulder and wiped his tears.

Joey opened the case to reveal a bunch of drawings when they heard a sound. They looked at the other room to see a bright light and someone stumbling out. "MAT!" Ro and Richard yelled out as the man came back, but badgeless and glassesless. "Oh, my God! It worked!" Joey exclaimed before he went and hugged Richard.

Rosanna: It is Mat. I am so excited. He looks like, I don't know, he went on an all-night bender, but I gue- I mean, what would you look like when you come back from the dead?

Everyone sat Mat down, but before they could Richard hugged the man like he was about to die again. He pulled away and hugged Ro as well as Mat sat down, Ro sat on one side of Mat while Richard hugged Joey.

Joey: I chose to bring back MatPat. You know, it was a very obvious decision, especially after everything that went down.

Ro hugged Mat as everyone surrounded the two, both of them laughing like before. "Mat, we are so happy to see you-" Manny began to speak when Mat got up and hugged him too. "Mat, we were able to bring one person back. And we brought back you." Joey said as Mat hugged Safiya. "You chose me?" he asked Joey before hugging him, "We chose you." Joey reiterated.

MatPat: They could have brought anyone back and so for them to specifically choose me meant so much.

Safiya: I don't know where MatPat's been or what's happened to him, but I'm mostly just glad to have him back.

Ro handed Mat his badge while Richard swapped his glasses again and put Mat's back on him, "Thank you." Mat said as he got his costume back together. "Mat, there's one thing I need to know." Joey said, getting Mat's attention. "What happened when you died?" he asked the man.

"I was in the church, and- and standing inside was a blonde woman and an Asian man." Mat began when Joey interrupted him, "The Society Against Evil." he said. Mat continued, "They- They said that one of my friends was on a mission and they were waiting for that friend to bring them back to life." When Mat mentioned a mission, everyone turned to Joey, "You were right." Ro said to him.

MatPat: While I was dead, it also became clear to me that Joey wasn't lying, that he is an integral piece in this mission, and that we need him to survive so that we can escape.

"Alright, now that you're back, let's get to solving clues and getting out." Richard chuckled out to Mat before grabbing the drawings.

MatPat: Way to put me to work guys. "Go, do this puzzle for us."  Fine, it's good to get back to business.
