The Mother

"The Maiden of Madness contains the third Life Stone. It will only release the crystal once it has feasted upon the flesh of an undead mother." Joey read. Mat asked, "What's the Maiden of Madness?" while keeping the door closed. "Where Roi sacrificed himself." Ro answered him, "Sorry, you might have to refresh me, because I was dead." Mat reminded the two.

"We had to vote on someone to throw in there, Roi said he was gonna do it, we had to close it on him. It was really gruesome, but the point is, we know where it is." Ro recapped for him. "Hold on, there's more to this. 'Caroline passed away two years ago from grief over her lost child, and they say she was buried with a token of her daughter."

MatPat: So the note makes mention of this woman named Caroline, who was buried with some reminder of her child. So it looks like we're headed back to the cemetery to dig up some graves.

"So that's how we'll find out who she is!" Joey exclaimed when Ro perked up. "Wait, wouldn't Roi's body still be there?" Mat looked towards his friend, "Yeah, I saw Manny's body was still at the sacrificial table at the Witch's Lair when Joey and I were trying to save you." She nodded her head and began to plan, "Okay, Joey, you go take Roi's body out of the Maiden, Mat, you go distract the zombies, and I'll find the token."

Mat's face lit with concern, "Are you sure you can do that?" Ro looked towards him and nodded, "Yeah, reminder, I got captured because I ran head first into a giant horde of zombies so you could escape their grasp, and I beat them up with my shoe." She pointed toward her bloody shoe she got back after Mat and Joey saved her.

Ro handed Mat the hood and Joey opened the door before closing it behind Mat. "Hey, hey, look at me!" Mat began to run off in one direction leading the zombies with him. "Zombie! Zombie! Zombie! E-! E-!" Mat began to yell out to lead more Zombies to him. Ro and Joey ran out once all the zombies were out of sight from the door window.

Joey ran off in the direction that Mat ran off and tried entering The Dollmaker's Shoppe. It was unfortunately locked, but on the porch was a crowbar he used to wedge open a window. He entered the shoppe and unlocked and boarded the door. Ro ran straight forward to the church and graveyard, yet a zombie followed her. When both were out of sight, Mat put the hood on and walked around. Once Ro made it to the graveyard, she pulled off her shoe again and started beating the zombie's head in until it was dead.

Rosanna: I start examining the graves and, of course, there are two Carolines, but that's why I went to the graveyard, because I knew something Mat and Joey didn't.

'Caroline Weathers: The woman who longed for children' I feel like that will be important later. Ro remember that.

Ro ran past Caroline Weathers' grave and checked the others finding Caroline Mathers. "A grief-stricken mother. Sorry, Caroline." she apologized before digging into the grave. Very quickly she found a rattle in the ground, grabbed it by the noise-making part, and ran to The Dollmaker's Shoppe with Mat behind her.

As Ro was in the graveyard, Joey walked back into the Maiden's room. He reopened the Maiden and carefully pulled Roi off the spikes, voicing out how grossed out he was. "Ohh, this is disgusting! Sorry, Roi." Joey said as he plopped the corpse in the corner. He walked out to the front of the shoppe to see Ro running and Mat clumsily walking toward the door. 

Joey unboarded the door and both entered the building before quickly closing the door. They let Mat have a bit of a breather as they went over the plan. Joey was on distracting duty, Ro would rattle the rattle to get Caroline away from Joey, and Mat would help close the Maiden. Joey took the hood, put it on, walked straight away from the shoppe, took it off when he was far enough, and led the zombies away.

MatPat: So Ro takes the rattle, walks outside, starts making the sound, and lo and behold, one zombie separates from the pack. This is our girl.

Ro continued to shake the rattle, Caroline followed, and Mat gave directions to Ro, as she was walking backwards. As Ro went into the room, Mat told Ro to, "Give me the rattle!" She did and he shook it and threw it into the Maiden, Caroline followed still. As soon as she walked into the Maiden, Mat and Ro closed the doors and stabbed her.

Mat and Ro watched the Maiden as Caroline cried out, before turning to the corner to see ghostly blue hands float out of Roi's corpse. Both watched in frozen shock as the hands pulled open the Maiden's compartment to show the final Life Stone inside. The ghost with only hands showing turned to them and meekly waved before going behind them, pushing them to the Maiden, pointing at the compartment, and disappearing.

"Did you just...?" Mat asked.
"Yeah, I did."
"So ghosts are...?"
"Guess so."
"...I'll never think of The Haunted Mansion the same way again."
"Me neither."

Ro grabbed the Life Stone and the last purple flame exited the stone and flew straight for the church. Both turned to Roi's corpse, smiled, and ran out of the building.

MatPat: We have all three Life Stones, we can finally end this and go home.
