The Funhouse Challenge

Safiya and Ro sat on the ground against the wall when Willie sprayed water at them from a pump. "The funhouse is open again for bloody business. Follow me to the elevator to begin." he announced before unlocking the cage. Safiya and Ro followed him inside until they entered the elevator and were spat out into the candy room.

Safiya: We walk inside the funhouse and I feel protective over Ro. She's my friend, our friend. But, unfortunately, it has to be this way.

Safiya picked up a note and she and Ro read it out loud, "Once you complete the challenge, jump into the elevator and it'll take you to the next room. First one through all three will have defeated the funhouse. Step inside to begin."

Rosanna: In the first room, there is a series of lollipops and we have to match them to their taste.

Ro grabbed the red lollipop and sucked on it, before taking it out and gagging.

Rosanna (cont.): The only problem was they tasted terrible.

Both contestants gagged at the flavors, but fortunately for Ro, she guessed correctly and was able to move on. Safiya moved around her flavor cards until she got it right, which was not long after Ro.

Rosanna: I get them right and I race over to the elevator and it takes me to the lava room.

Safiya runs over to Ro, who has a basket filled with beanbags in her hands. "Toss one beanbag in each of the five holes from behind the red line. Step in the lava and you have to start back over. And no cheating. You can only take one beanbag at a time." the note on the basket read. Safiya and Ro each grabbed one and started going to the wall with holes.

Safiya: It's basically a game of beanbag toss with crazy high stakes.

Safiya and Ro were neck and neck, so much so that they both completed it at the same time. They ran over to the elevator and were spit out in the sideways room, the final room. "Riddle me this. Twist to begin." Safiya read before twisting the knob on the drawer, releasing keys onto the floor.

Both of the girls got on their hands and knees grabbing keys and trying to open the music box on the table with the drawer. Safiya unlocked the music box and pulled out the clue as a recording of Willie said he'd be sad to see them go. "Solve the riddle and find the object and place it in its appropriate spot to win the duel. When I am young, I am tall. When I am old, I am short. Sweat makes me age and breath is my foe." Safiya read.

Both knew it was a candle and they both ran around the room looking for one. Safiya found the candle in a kettle on a table and placed it in the holder on the dining table.

Safiya: I place the candle in the holder and I won. But Ro will die.

Safiya and Ro hug for the last time as a recording of Willie plays saying there was a winner. Safiya saw Willie enter the room and hugged Ro as hard as she could.

Safiya's POV

Willie walks into the room and my grip on Ro tightens. He walks over and pulls Ro away from me but he turns to me instead of killing her with the fishhook in his hands.

Safiya: What's going on? Why isn't he killing Ro?

He walks towards me and I run to the corner, he's after me, but I won. I shouldn't be the one to die, I'm happy Ro's alive but why was there a twist? I run myself into a corner and Willie stabs me in the stomach. I start to bleed out as I fall onto the floor. Willie walks away and Ro runs over to me, trying to stop the blood.

I take her hands off and feel my consciousness start to slip. "It's too late..." I croak out at her, I can see her tears falling down. "Tell Richard... I'm... sorry." I manage to push out before falling into death's arms.
