Mortimer and Calliope walked back to the lounge, they went inside when Mortimer turned to her. "We should be doing something." he told her, "You know we cannot." she responded simply. He turned back to her to say something back, but turned away, knowing he couldn't.
He saw the swirl on the table, grabbed it, and walked to a table in the other room. "I've seen this one before." he confessed, the words from The Carnival Master played in his head.
I need a funhouse man...
He placed the swirl down and looked at it, "What are you doing?" Calliope asked. He ignored her and began to turn the wheel, he turned it faster and faster. The lines on it began to glow as a black smoke hand grabbed his neck. Calliope ran over and pulled him away as he grabbed his neck, laughter filled the room.
She looked in shock as Mortimer grunted, his eyes glowed orange, unknown to her. He served a new master now, a carnival master.
