Derek was walking around the house and was cleaning a bit, Meredith was asleep on the couch, her braced legs resting on a pillow and little Ellis asleep in her arms, both snoring softly

He smiled as he watched both of them. He had received a text earlier from Addison to tell him that they would stop by soon, they had found out the gender of the baby and wanted to share it with them

But he didn't wanna wake Meredith, she was sleeping so peacefully, her legs still spasming a bit so he placed her weighted blanket on top of them in a try to make them stop, as a neurosurgeon he knew this was probably caused by the results of the helicopter event, which had scared her a lot

"Mer?" He whispered, laying down with her, wrapping his arm around her

"Yeah?" She muttered, not opening her eyes

"Mark and Addison are stopping by, is that okay?" Derek asked, brushing his fingers through her hair

"I look like shit.." Meredith groaned, her back a bit sore

"You look just fine, don't worry. Do you wanna sit up? I can place Ellie in her bed." Mark offered

"If you don't mind, I think she needs some rest. I think she was quite affected by all our emotions.." Meredith said

Derek lifted her and carried her to the small travel bed they had placed for the girl

Meredith and Derek had started to buy furniture but most had to arrive still so they were improvising.

It wasn't planned to stay here but Meredith needed to get away from town for a bit, especially after the guy that killed Finn was brought in a while ago and now the helicopter thing.. She needed some time

After a little while they saw their car pulling up. Derek opened the door and they sat down on the couch, at least those had arrived. They had gotten one couch that was convertible into a bed, the other two had built in legrests

"How are you doing? You look amazing." Meredith smiled as her friends entered

"I'm doing okay, I'm finally less nauseous." Addison chuckled and went to hug her friend, noticing the weighted blanket on top of Meredith's legs and the heating pad behind her back

"Little Ellis is asleep?" Mark asked as he went over to hug Meredith

"Yes, but I expect her to wake up in a while." Meredith responded with a soft smile. "I heard you guys went to your OB? How's the little baby?"

"Doing so well. Quite big." Addison giggled

"We got a picture for the two of you.. but first.. Mer?" Mark started, a bit nervous

"What's wrong?" Meredith frowned

"Do you wanna be the godmother of our baby?" Mark and Addison both smiled, handing her ghe picture of the baby

"Of course!" She sat up, leaning over to hug them tight

Derek removed the blanket so she wouldn't overstretch her legs

"Thank you." She hugged them both before she looked at the picture with Derek

"A boy?" They both smiled

"We're getting a little boy." Mark confirmed

"Oh that's amazing!" Meredith teared up, really happy for her friends

A while later Ellis had woken up and was glad to see her auntie and uncle. She was told about the baby cousin she'd get, super excited and already talking about sharing her toys with him

"We're coming home later today. The house isn't quite ready yet." Meredith explained as she wanted them to know

"Mer, it's your house and will always stay your house." Mark smiled

"But still." Meredith shrugged

"We still have to ask if that's even okay for you if we'd stay.. with a baby on the way.." Addison said

"Of course, you can have everything upstairs, I can't come there anyway." Meredith said

"Thanks, Mer." Addison grabbed her friend's hand and squeezed it

Meredith and Derek had decided to go back to her house and have lunch with Addison and Mark. The boys would grill while Meredith and Addison would catch up. Ellis was playing on the swing

"Are you doing a bit better?" Addison asked, she brought a drink for both of them

"I'm just tired." Meredith shrugged. "And I'd rather not go to work for a while but that won't solve anything."

"You didn't wanna go back to work before the helicopter accident. No one would blame you if you take some time off." Addison reasoned

"I know.. But I don't know what I'd do at home." Meredith shrugged

"Maybe.. Maybe go see someone to talk to? You went through very traumatic things.. You always pushed through.. Same with getting paralyzed." Addison carefully said

"I know.." Meredith sadly said. "I'll talk to Derek about it and then with Bailey."

"Goodluck." Addison said softly

"Pregnancy suits you really well." Meredith giggled softly

"Would you want any more?" Addison then asked

"I don't know. I don't even know if Derek wants any kids of his own.. I don't know how I'd even do it from a wheelchair.."

"You two should talk.. maybe Mark and I should take little Ellis for a night, you two got a lot to talk about."

"Thanks Addie.." Meredith nodded, knowing this would have to be done since the two were planning on living together fulltime. "We will."
