Chapter 63

Y/n POV

Mae grunts restlessly as she sleeps with her hand over her abdomen. Brooklyn managed to stop the bleeding by placing big leaves over the wound, similar to gauze.  Sammy begins to question, "I don't know how long that's gonna last... we gotta do something."

Yasmina relays the information from Ben, "He says Kash has a phone. Let's grab it, call for help and finally get out of here." Darius interjects, "But what about the dinosaurs?" Nobody says anything because at this point we just want to finally, finally go home. As much as I care for dinosaurs, I want to get out of here... but is that too selfish of me to think?

"Now that Mae's injured, if we all leave, who's gonna protect them?" asked Darius. Yasmina responds as Mae whimpers in pain, "Darius, look at her. She needs help. Our only choice is that phone." Mae yelps in pain, Ben adds on as he examines Mae, "Those leaves aren't exactly sterile. We're running out of time. Let's split up and try to find Kash."

Kenji comments, "Small problem. We don't know where he went." A green flickering light appears near which makes us tense. Sammy shushes us as the BRADs begin to get closer. We hide behind boulders as they scan with their green lights. Thankfully, Sammy and Ben were able to move Mae so she wouldn't get detected. The BRADs begin to retreat as one says, "New orders received."

Yasmina speculates, "One of them could be headed to Kash." Ben asserts, "You guys go. I think there was a first aid kit in the snow gliders. I'll get Mae patched up." I stand up and add, "I won't leave you alone, I'll help you." Everyone seems to agree, although I can see Aleem looking a little hesitant but he knows that both of us can handle ourselves. "I'll stay behind," the others look at Aleem as if he was sure of his decision. He adds, "We can't just leave Mae alone here, somebody has to keep look out just in case."

"Stay safe Aleem."

"You too Y/n."

~Time Skip~

The airlock opens revealing the snowy biome to us. Ben peeks around the corner checking if it was safe to leave. He nods to me as we prepare to enter the extreme cold with minimal protection from the freezing temperature. We both start running towards the snow glider and quickly enter inside the vehicle. Shivering, we look around and spot the equipment in the back of the glider.  Ben grabs the first aid kit and gauze while I grab the water bottles and gel packs. Ben slowly gets out first and backs up instantly. I notice the green light which means a BRAD is here.

We hide on the other side of the glider where the scanner can't reach us. Just as the BRAD began to walk away, a bottle of water slipped out of my grip due to the cold. Ben tenses up as the bottle causes a noise. The footsteps of the BRAD approach again. Ben looks around and quickly gestures under the glider. "We need to hide, quick," he whispers fast as we slide under the snow glider.

The BRAD scans where the water bottle landed and then goes away. We let out sighs of relief. "Let's go back..." I chatter as I get out from under the glider. "I'm definitely not missing this cold," I picked up the water bottle. We both start heading towards the airlock.

~Time Skip~

We finally made it back to Mae and Aleem. Thankfully, it seems like nothing bad happened. "Glad to see you two back," he smiles as he backs up giving us space near Mae. "Let's get her cleaned up," said Ben as Mae groans in pain. Ben tries to remove the leaf gently. She yelps and reflexively punches Ben in the face causing him to fall back. Mae utters out, "Ben... you hurt me."

Ben sits up as he rubs his face exclaiming, "You hurt me." I bite back a laugh, this shouldn't be funny but it kinda is at the same time. I glance at Aleem and see him looking away, probably also holding back a chuckle. Mae apologizes, "Sorry. Maybe it's safer if we stick with the leaves."

Ben opens the first aid kit as he explains, "We don't want you getting an infection. Luckily, antibacterial is my middle name." He grabs a gauze as Mae speaks, "Really? My middle name's Enfys. It's Welsh for 'rainbow'. Hmmm..."

Aleem glances at me and whispers, "She may be a bit out of it due to the blood loss or from just waking up." I whisper back, "Could be... could be."

Ben replies to her, "Okay... Let's just take care of these wounds." Aleem adds, "We'll leave it to the 'expert'. We don't know much about medical aid." Ben nods and gets ready to take off the leave, but first he asks, "You're not gonna punch me again, are you?" She affirms, "No. I'm ready for it this time."

I lean towards Aleem and whisper, "Could you maybe catch the punch?" He huffs smiling and gets closer, as a precaution. Can't have my boyfriend being hurt.

Ben grabs the leaf as Mae screams, throwing out another punch. Aleem was able to catch it thankfully before it could hit Ben's face again. Oh boy, this is gonna be slightly more difficult than what I imagined.

"Sorry."

~Time Skip~

The others arrived with their own information of what they had seen. Kenji was on look out as the others spoke. "We found Kash... in this creepy warehouse full of BRADs," said Yasmina. Brooklyn sulks, "I almost had the phone. But then...", Yasmina continues for her, "He went back inside the compound."

Darius's turn to give information, "The BRADs forced Big Eatie away from her daughter. They shocked her until she left with them." Kenji approaches as he adds sadly, "It was... hard to watch."

Mae exclaims, "Hasn't he hurt them enough?!" Darius answers, "He wants to use her for some kind of test." A roar is heard in the distance, wait, that sounded familiar? Mae gasps, "That's Pierce!" She tries to reach out but gasps in pain as her hand reaches towards her abdomen.

"No, no, no. You need to rest," implores Darius to Mae. "But if Kash is hurting him like he did Big Eatie..." said Mae. Darius assures her.

"Don't worry. We'll go."
