Chapter 64

Y/n POV

We ran towards the sound of Pierce's roar and we found him being forced to move as those drones shine a yellow light at him with sounds of electricity. "What are they doing with him?" asks Yasmina with concern as a roar is heard coming. Out of the greenery comes out Big Eatie being forced to walk backwards because of more drones.

The drones position Pierce and Big Eatie to be facing each other. I gasp as a terrible thought flashes into my mind but Darius beats me to saying it, "He's gonna force them to fight." Sammy gasps with worry as Ben says, "No way." Daiurs begins to explain it, "It all adds up. Dosing the food making them more aggressive, seeing how strong they are, Mae's research. He doesn't care how dinosaurs feel. He only wanted to know how they'd do in a fight."

Big Eatie roars at Pierce as he howls back at her. "This is worse than roosters fighting... and that's illegal," adds Aleem as he looks towards the two dinosaurs fearing for Pierce. "But Pierce is no match for Big Eatie. He'll be slaughtered," exclaims Brooklyn as she backs up into Kenji. The two dinosaurs roar at each other as Darius speaks up, "Guys, I know that phone is our only way off this island, but we have to-" he gets cut off by Brooklyn, "Save them."

"Yeah, we do!" adds Sammy as Darius says with confusion, "Wait, really? I mean, I was gonna-" he gets cut off again as Kenji spoke, "Give one of your classic 'save the dinos' speeches? No need, bro. We're with you." Aleem nods, "Of course we'll help but we need a plan."

"Kash must be controlling those drones from his compound. If we can get in there, we can disable them and keep the dinos from hurting each other," Brooklyn deduces. The two dinosaurs continue to roar as they get closer to one another as Darius says, "We'll have to lure him out of the first."

Ben somehow got himself a Carob bar as he chewed on it while getting ideas, "I got some ideas on that front." I huff as he smiles lopsidedly, "It better not be an explosion." Darius responds, "Perfect. Sammy and Y/n, you two are with Ben. Once Kash leaves his compound." I nod towards him without any objection.

Brooklyn nudges Kenji as she adds, "We'll trail him. Make sure he stays out." "I'll join you two," said Aleem. Darius acknowledges them, "Okay. Yaz, you and I will get past the raptors, sneak into the compound and get control of the drones." I notice Yasmina being quiet but she ends up putting on a brave face as Brooklyn asks her, "Hey, are you sure?" She just responds with, "I got this."

Brooklyn nods towards her before she and Kenji begin to run, before Aleem joins them he warns me, "Be safe." I didn't get to respond as he ran to catch up with the two. Darius places his had on Yasmina's shoulders assuring her, "You do got this." Ben starts to run off and so I follow him, still hoping that this won't involve an explosion.

~ Time Skip ~

"You can't be serious?" I say shivering as Ben had led me back into that dreaded snow biome. "This is the only one we know about so we have to use what we have," he says as he hopes into the driver side of the snow glider.

"Do you even know how to drive this?" I ask him as I get into the passenger side. He shrugs but assures me, "I'm sure this won't be difficult, I've been watching."

I let out a short burst of laughter, "Ha! You better not crash this."

~Time Skip~

Thankfully, Ben was a competent driver despite not having a drivers license yet. We managed to guide the snow glider back into the jungle biome and we ran into Sammy and Yasmina. The treads screech as Ben stops the snow glider near them and gestures for them to get in. Turns out that distraction did involve causing an explosion.

Ben and I tape on two oxygen canisters onto the grill of the snow glider. "This better work," I say as Ben and I get onto the snow glider. Yasmina is now in the driver's seat so Ben and I sit back. "Guess it's not a Ben plan if it doesn't involve blowing something up," comments Yasmina as Ben responds, "I like to play to my strengths."

I tsks and whisper, "Explosion enthusiast" but smile as Sammy exclaims, "Let's show these janky toasters who's boss." Yasmina begins to drive swiftly as a BRAD appears on the dirt path. The BRAD sees us and begins charging up its electric shot. Thankfully, the BRAD wasn't tall enough to reach the oxygen canisters or we would have exploded as Yasmina runs it over with the snow glider.

Ben and Sammy cheer as I sigh in relief at the reckless move, we could have been toast. "Look out, BRADs! We're coming for ya!" yells Sammy as we continue to drive towards the warehouse. One the warehouse is in view Yasmina jams the accelerator petal so it keeps going with speed. We unbuckle our seat-belts and quickly jump out of the vehicle.

An explosion follows as the snow glider hits the warehouse at full speed, I didn't even notice when Ben appears as he shields me with his arm as the explosion pushes us back with force. We stand up and Ben exclaims, "Now that's what I'm talkin' about!" Yasmina cheers as Sammy jumps with her hands in the air, "Take that, Mantah Corp!" I cheer silently with my fist partially in the air.

Aleem POV

Kenji, Brooklyn and I stand behind a large tree as Kash passes by as he sighs in annoyance, "Perfect. For some reason today there's so many interruptions and I'm about to miss my check-in with the big guy." He looks at the BRAD next to him and commands, "Go back and get my phone!" Kash and the BRAD begin to walk separate ways as Brooklyn whispers, "Oh, no." We looked at each other before running back to where the dinosaurs were about to fight.

We gasp as we see two BRADs that were in the premise scanning the area. Kenji pulls Brooklyn behind a tree and I hide behind another one that is close by. Pierce and Big Eatie can be heard growling in the distance as Kenji whispers, "No way we can get past them." Then Brooklyn whispers, "What about Darius and Yaz?" I whisper at them, "I'm sure they'll be fine."

Kenji backs up my claim, "Yes, Aleem's right. If anyone can think of something it's them." Pierce and Big Eatie are still being forced to fight as Pierce strikes Big Eatie's face with his spiked tail. Big Eatie his back with a roar and Pierce groans. I bite my thumb with worry, I just hope Darius and Yasmina are able to stop it in time before any of them die.

I smile as I see the drones move to be in between the two dinosaurs blocking them from attacking each other. The drones begin to push them back, separating them. I was about to celebrate but my eyes widened as the drones went back into the position they were before. All progress was lost as the drones were again forcing the dinosaurs into proximity to fight.

Darius! What is going on!?

3rd POV

A phone call is hung up with the recipient somewhere far, far away.

"He's... He's alive."
