Chapter 65

Aleem POV

Pierce growls as he stands up on his hind legs before stomping the ground and running towards Big Eatie. He manages to slam his plates into Big Eatie's neck which makes me wince out loud. Big Eatie tries to bite his head but he's able to dodge the snapping. I hear footsteps and look behind to see Y/n, Ben, Sammy and Yasmina arriving.

Wait? Yasmina?! I thought she was supposed to be with Darius. That means he's up there all on his own!

Y/n POV

"How could we let this happen?" questions Yasmina as the dinosaurs let out noises of pain. Aleem, Kenji and Brooklyn join us finally as Sammy asks, "What's going on? Why isn't Darius stopping this?" Kenji responds, "There was a bunch of BRADs. We had to take cover." Brooklyn adds, "We lost sight of Kash."

Aleem sighs, "Which means that Darius could be in there with that freak all alone." We all have a look akin to despair as Pierce continues to strike Big Eatie with his tail. I gasp as one of Pierce's thagomizers breaks up and gets embedded into one of Big Eatie's wounds. Sammy whispers worriedly, "What can we do? Big Eatie and Pierce are gonna kill each other."

The whir of a drone above us is heard as it joins the collection of drones forcing the dinosaurs to fight. "The drones are forcing them together. Split up! We need to knock them out of the sky so Pierce can get away." exclaims Brooklyn. Brooklyn, Kenji, Yasmina and Aleem head one way as Ben, Sammy and I head the other way.

Ben and I grab stones and begin chucking them at the drones but to no avail, it seems we may have terrible throwing aim. I cover my mouth as Big Eatie bites onto one of Pierce's side thagomizers. I hear the sound of something falling onto the ground and see that Kenji was able to take down one drone. I'm somehow able to throw a stone and it's able to bring down another one as Ben exclaims, "Nice!"

"Two down," said Kenji as we converge back into a group. Sadly, Big Eatie bites down onto Pierce and manages to throw him onto the ground. "Pierce!" yells Ben as Sammy shouts, "No!" We get closer to watch as Brooklyn cries out, "Come on. Get Up!" I cover my eyes, unable to continue watching as Big Eatie is about to bite Pierce's head off.

I peek through my finger when I hear a drone move quickly, I put my hands down in disbelief as the drone got in the way of Big Eatie. Electricity buzzes as the drones move in a formation forcing her to back up from Pierce, who has yet to stand back up. Two BRADs run up to her and spray a gas as Big Eatie growls before falling like a rock. Such a strong knockout gas. We all sigh in relief before Ben questions, "Wonder why he stopped them."

After a while Kash walks out of the building with Darius behind him and one BRAD on each side. We aren't able to hear their conversation as they walk away, Sammy tries to be positive, "At least he's alive?" Yasmina just adds, "For now." Kash and Darius walk up to Big Eatie and the metal ground they're standing on begins to lower deeper into the ground.

"No! Where is he taking Darius?" questions Brooklyn watching the scene ahead as Aleem suggests, "Maybe, Mae knows where it leads to?"

~Time Skip~

Once we reached Mae, we told her the terrible news which caused her to yell out, "No!" She sighs apologizing, "I'm sorry. This is just... Big Eatie's already been through so much and I practically raised Pierce. And now, Darius is stuck with that monster." Ben approaches her with understanding, "I get it, believe me. But they're tough, okay? They'll get through this." Mae pulls out her tablet, "There's an underground med bay. I didn't have access, probably because Kash is doing horrible things he didn't want me to know about. And on top of everything else, now he has my research."

She almost facepalms with her tablet as she leans back with frustration, "How could I have been so naive?" "We need another way to get in," said Brooklyn as Mae explains, "Any of the feeding platforms should get you down to the lower level." She looks through her tablet before informing us, "The next feeding is in the desert."

"With the saber-toothed tiger?" asks Ben which makes Yasmina add, "So not 'not dangerous'." I almost scoff at her idiotic statement, as if anyplace on this forsaken island isn't riddled with dangerous creatures or dangerous environments. Everyone seems to look at Brooklyn for answers, I guess since we usually rely on Darius but now he's missing.

She stands up to talk, "We go get Darius, no matter what."
