Chapter 59

While Dr. Turner was analyzing the substance while everyone else was asleep except for Yasmina. "This can't be. This is bad" she exclaims as she finds out what the substance contains. She wakes everyone up to tell them the news.

Y/n  POV

"Okay, after carefully analyzing the nutriment samples, I've discovered alarmingly high levels of receptor antagonists, as well as adrenal additives", Dr. Turner told us as we passed around the vial to look at it. "These must be the cause of the elevated combative state of the animals who've ingested them."

"Dude, what the heck is she talking about?" questioned Kenji to Darius but Dr. Turner heard him. "The T-rex food's been tempered with. They're adding things that make the dinos more aggressive, and inhibits their ability to feel pain" explained Dr. Turner in a more understandable way.

"Mantah Corp is the worst!" exclaimed Sammy as she looks away crossing her arms. "Why would they do that?" asked Darius as he hands the vial back to Dr. Turner. "I have no idea. But it seems more important than ever to get you kids off the island."

"No argument here", Kenji coughs, "Are you feeling okay?" asked Brooklyn. He clears his throat, "Always. Something just got caught in my throat." Brooklyn sarcastically says, "Great. Trying to get off yet another island." Dr. Tuner thinks about what way to get us off as she gasps, "The supply plane! It comes every two weeks. Only, the next one's not due for another ten days."

"We can't wait that long," exclaimed Yasmina, Brooklyn adds, "Maybe we don't have to. Any way to make the plane come sooner?" Dr. Tuner responds, "Well, I suppose it would come if there was an emergency."

Sammy chimes in, "If we stop the dinos from eating that messed-up food, Mantah Corp would notice, right?" Darius adds, "Maybe we can kill two birds with one stone." Aleem chimes, "So by getting rid of the tampered T-rex food, we'll get the supply plane to come early."

"Hang on. So, we're just gonna somehow get  this supply plane to come? All the while avoiding getting eaten by dinosaurs or zapped by killer robots. Then we just sneak onboard, and hope that Mantah Corp doesn't notice six kids on the plane until we're back home?" Kenji does ask a good question, now that I think about it.

"Uh, yeah," that's all Darius says to answer him. Kenji glances around and notices it the only thing we can do, "Supply plane it is..." Dr. Tuner explains, "Right. All we need is a solid, detailed plan. Give me a minute, I'm sure I'll come up with something."

Darius interjects, "Mae, I have an idea that could work. Here's how it'll go down. First, we'll wait until the T-rexes go to sleep. Mae, Ben, and Yaz will keep an eye on 'em and make sure they stay that way. The minute they wake up you guys will alert-" but he gets interrupted by Yasmina, "Sorry, can I not be on dino duty?"

"But you're the fastest" stated Ben. "I know. Like, by a lot. But... I stayed up pretty late last night, and I could use... a break." Everyone is silent for a moment, I wonder why Yasmina is avoiding it. "No prob, I'll be Team Dino" but then Kenji sneezes. "Uh, are you catching a cold? Because the last thing I need is getting sick." asked Brooklyn.

"Me?! Sick? No way! I'm a hundred percent, all day, everyday" said Kenji try to reassure everyone, and himself. "Okay... So, Kenji... and Y/n will keep an eye on the Rexes. Meanwhile, Brooklyn, Sammy and Aleem will get rid of the altered T-rex food. Finally, Yaz and I will move in and disable the feeding platform, which will hopefully alert Mantah Corp to send the supply plane so that the BRADs can repair it."

~Cut to present time trying to do the plan~

I place my face in my hands as I watch the Rexes sleep, Aleem is so missing out on seeing this. They're even snoring, how cute! "According to their QEEG's, they-" Kenji interrupts Mae, "Their what, now?" Mae struggles to reword it, "Um... Their... Maps of their brains. Yeah. See look, they're in a light but restful Stage Two sleep." She shows us her tablet. "We just have to be sure to keep extra quiet."

Kenji coughs into his arm, the Rexes start to stir in their sleep. "Shh! You're gonna wake 'em!" whispered-yelled Ben. "I had a tickle! Won't happen again" Kenji tries to explain himself. "Kenji I think you should leave," I stated. Kenji starts to cough and whispers, "It's happening again." He tries to muffle his cough as Mae grabs him trying to stop him but, then he coughs loudly.

The tablets beeps and I gasp, this isn't good. Mae gaps too, "They're waking up!" One get up but the other one struggles, "Oh no! Poor things, they're still hurt." One tries again to get up but falls again as her mother nudges her, "They should've received medical attention by now. Let me put in a request for a Med BRAD to come."

"Are you sure that's a good idea... I wouldn't want any BRAD doing anything else to them," I stated saddened. "It should be fine" said Mae. The mother one starts to walk away and Ben says, "We gotta tell the others. They're sitting ducks!"

~Time Skip~

Not sure how this idea came to us but now we're running to where Darius and Yasmina should be. "Time to go!" yelled Kenji catching their attention ahead. We all run and don't look back but I see Kenji run back to get Yasmina. What's she doing just standing there!? We stop when we reach a stop where everyone is at. "Everyone good?" asked Darius. "Oh, yeah" said Kenji.

The tablet beeps and Mae gasps, "It worked! The plane will be here in three hours with new food and replacement parts. You lot are almost home." We all start to celebrate and Aleem hugs him tightly.

Suddenly a green light appears and we all gasp, the scanner! The BRAD finishes and monotonously states, "Unauthorized life forms detected." It's eyes turn red and prepares to zap us but Mae stands in front of us, "Stop! Stand down!" But it just goes around her, "Command override due to unauthorized life forms."

"That doesn't sound good" said Kenji, "Initiating elimination protocol." "Everyone, Run!" yelled Mae at us, we all start to run as Mae runs along us. "Keep left! The airlock to the supply plane is just ahead." The airlock opens and more BRADs come out so we start running another way.

"There's another airlock not far from here. The only challenge is-" she gets cut off, "Loo out!" One BRAD lets out an electric shock, Ben barely manages to dodge it. The BRADs continue trying to electrify us and Darius shouts, "Split up!" As we split up Mae yells, "Just keep eyes on me!"

Thankfully we managed to avoid the BRADs as we reach another airlock, "Quickly!" yelled Mae as she opens it. Once the door closes, we finally get a breather. I breath heavily, I never want to run like that again. But I doubt I'll get my wish. Mae locks the door, "Okay... that should slow them down," but the door suddenly unlocks.

We scream and run down the hallway, "I'm really beginning to hate these guys" exclaimed Mae. "Beginning?" questioned Kenji, they continue shooting electric shots our way. "How do we stop the BRADs from following us?" asked Sammy while running.

We reach another door and stop to see the BRADs closing in on us. Brooklyn looks at the door and screen, "I have an idea! You, you guys go on ahead! Trust me go!" Mae unlocks the door. Brooklyn manages to make the BRADs fry the screen as it glitches it out and causes it to shut down.

I shiver as I look around at the new environment, everything is white and cold. "What... where are we?" I asked.

"A snowy environment..." states Aleem as he hugs me shivering, I'm not dressed for this.
