I WALK DOWN THE PATH LEADING TO HAGRID'S HUT. It's calm but it's cold and the wind chills my skin. I'm following the path to make my way into the Forbidden Forrest, it's peaceful there. For some odd reason, I feel utterly alone.
Even though I'm not. Even though I have Hermione, Ron, and Harry, I can't help but feel like none of them understand me. Because they don't understand me, they haven't been through what I have — done the things I have.
I'm different to them, and I've only now began to realise how much.
I can hear a howl as I make my way into the forbidden forest and I spot a Thestral flying through the air. I step closer to it and it lands. The Thestral looks at me cautiously before walking towards me and nuzzling into my side.
I smile slightly and it nudges my legs. I understand what it's saying and I carefully put myself on its back, behind its large wings and it takes flight.
The Thestral lifts into the air, soaring above the trees and wind flows through my long dark hair. I smile slightly and the Thestral howls before making its way back to the ground.
I can hear feet walking through the leaves and turn around to look as I get off the Thestral. Luna stands there, barefooted. A kind smile lifts to her face at the sight of me. "Oh! Hello, Jupiter." She smiles kindly and I rub my hand over the Thestral's head.
"Hello Luna. What are you doing here, barefooted?" I ask her and she opens the bag slung across her side. "My shoes have disappeared. I suspect Nargles stole my shoes, and I've come to feed the Thestral's." She says softly and pulls an apple from her bag.
"Would you like to feed one to her?" She asks me with a soft and gentle voice. I look at the blonde and smile. "Sure, if you have enough that is." Luna smiles kindly at me and hands me the red apple.
I hold the fruit in my hand and walk towards the Thestral. It nudges its head towards me and takes the apple from my hand. "My dad and I believe you." I look back at the blonde. "That he-who-must-not-be-named is back. And that you got tortured, and Harry fought him, and that the ministry is conspiring against you, Harry, and Dumbledore." I give her a small smile.
"Thank you Luna, you're one of the few who do." I say and she shakes her head. "I don't think that's true. But I suppose that's how he wants you to feel." I frown slightly at her words before realisation draws upon me.
"That he wants me to feel cut off from everyone else, because if it's just me alone, I'm not as much of a threat." She nods at my words. "Exactly." Luna tells me and I smile slightly, deep in thought.
If it's just me alone, he thinks it will be easy for me to join him. But I will never join him.
