RAIN POURS DOWN MY HAIR AS I STAND OUTSIDE OF HARTSHORN HOUSE. The water drips from my hair and hammers onto the floor. I wait outside of the gate, staring up at the mansion I was raised in.
It's midnight, a week later, like my mother asked. And it's been a week since the death of my father. I haven't uttered a single word since that fateful night, since I witnessed my father die, since I almost killed his murderer.
The gates slowly open with a creek and I walk forwards. My dark boots hit the floor as I walk and with each patter of the rain, I'm reminded of the drips of my blood landing on the floor as my mother held her wand lodged in my throat before my father was killed only minutes later.
I continue to make my way up the large stone driveway which leads to the mansion and the gates close behind me. Rain drips through my eyelashes and falls down my face. I'm not crying, I can't cry anymore. I've shed to many tears and now I'm left with none.
My disguised long blonde hair hangs heavy from the rain and I shrink it upwards and it curls around my face before curling all over my head as it returns to its black colour. My black trousers morph into tights and a skirt, and my long black jacket changes into a long black sleeve turtle neck.
The front doors pull open for me and my clothes dry with my ability. I make my eyes be covered in dark smokes eye makeup and my lips get stained red. My skin is pale and ghostly, a sickly white.
I spot my mother standing in the middle of the room, underneath the large chandelier. A smirk raises to her face at the sight of me. Her head tilts to the side as her eyes flicker to my hair. "New hair? I like it." She smirks out and stands up straight.
"Get inspired by anyone?" She smirks and I catch a glimpse of myself in the reflection off the marble floor. My hair looks like Sirius'. I look back up at the smirk of my mother and step closer to her.
"Tell me what you know about Projection." I say and she raises an eyebrow at my words before nodding. I walk deeper into the room, my shoes hitting the floor as I walk.
My mother leads her way towards the library and the grand doors open. "What do you know about Projection?" She asks me and the sconces in the room ignite.
"Only that it's a rare gift, one that I somehow have. I know I am able to project my feelings, and memories, and shields from my body by using my energy. But that's all that I know." I tell her and she scoffs slightly.
"You know nothing then." She claims and makes her way to a table in the library. "Projection is a rare and powerful gift, it's not something to be used for a simple use of projecting your memories and emotions." She says with a roll of her eyes.
"It can be used to Project illusions, to completely overtake someone's mind by projecting pain into them. The gift of Projection can be used to project your own life force into someone deceased and resurrect them for how ever long you can. It is not something as simple as showing people how sad you are." She pouts and makes her voice sound child like.
I keep my face blank, but I run her words through my mind. "Projection can break even the strongest of Wizards by only projecting their worst fears." She leans forward and rests her head on her hands. "How do you know so much about this?" I ask her and her eyes hold a glint inside.
"There have only been four known Wizards with Projection. Each from centuries ago. But these four Wizards came from our family, they are of Hartshorn Blood. Our family has continued to teach each child about Projection, with hopes that they could be a Projector. But none have had the gift until you, Jupiter."
She stares at me, straight in my eyes. "The moment after you were born, I knew you had the gift of Projection. But I also knew that it was dangerous for you to have, so I sealed it inside of you." My eyes widen at her words.
"And I have began to undo this seal over the past two years. There are somethings I have kept sealed inside of you, but with my help, you will be able to unlock them and use your power to its full ability." She finishes and moves back from her hands.
"There has not been a Projector in our family for five hundred years. You are the most recent, do not waste this gift. Allow me to teach you, or you will die here right now." I blink, my eyes blank. I stare at her. "I was going to allow you to teach me anyway." I say to her and she smirks.
"But what do you want from me?" Her smirk grows and she chuckles. "To join us." She pulls back the sleeve of her long dark cloak, and I stare at the mark residing on her forearm. "I want you to become a Death Eater." She says and drops the fabric, allowing it to cover her mark.
"When?" I ask her, lifting my eyes to her face. "When do you want me to join." She smirks at my words, slightly taken aback by my straightforwardness. "When I deem you ready." She holds out her hand.
"Make the Unbreakable Vow, so I know you won't go against your word." I look at her hand before slowly slipping my thin one forward. Her cold hand grips mine, equally as cold before she begins the spell and mutters the words.
The spell slowly ends and I pull my hand back, stare at it slightly. It's done, it must happen now. I look back at my mother and she watches me.
"The Dark Lord will be happy you've come to your senses."
