I GET BACK INTO THE CASTLE, DRENCHED, WITH A POUNDING HEART. I completely forgot that tonight is the night. It's going to happen today. The locket remains hidden in my pocket, and I rush towards the room of requirement, morphing my clothes and appearance.
I hurry inside of the room, closing the doors behind me and Draco stands there, waiting. He seems terrified, I step closer to him. "Are you ready?" I ask him and he nods, trembling slightly. "Yes." He breathes out and my eyes lock on the cabinet. His eyes follow my gaze.
He pulls the cover from it and goes to open the door but I stop him. "I'll do it, you should find Dumbledore." I say to him and he looks at me. "I need to talk to Theodora. Go, check the astronomy tower, I suspect he'll be there." Draco nods his head and rushes away. I turn my gaze back to the cabinet, taking in a breath before pulling it open.
They walk out in a cloud of smoke. My mother's smirking face locks on me and Bellatrix laughs as she sees me. "I'll get the job done, you know I will." My eyes are on my mother's face. I have to prove myself to them. "Then why haven't you done it?" Bellatrix tilts her head with a lopsided smirk.
"I wanted you all to watch the show." My mother's eyes light up with a dark glint and her smirk grows. I vanish from before them, apparating myself to the bottom of the steps towards the astronomy tower. I know he will still be there, Dumbledore knows it will happen tonight which is why he won't move from the spot.
Harry tried to get him to the hospital wing but I know the man refused. I had rushed off before hearing the end of that conversation. I listen to Draco and Dumbledore speak from the bottom of the stairs, moving a hand into my pocket to grab my wand.
I hold it tightly and my eyes lock on Harry's face as he listens to the conversation above us. I move over to him quietly, and his eyes look at me. I place a finger on my mouth, telling him to be quiet and he nods his head. I move away from him, carefully walking up the steps. His green eyes follow after me and I swallow.
There's no turning back from what will happen, he will never forgive me. "He trusts me. I was chosen- we were chosen." Draco pulls up his sleeve, revealing his mark as I make myself known to the men. Dumbledore pretends to act shocked at the sight of my cold face.
I've morphed my clothes to reveal scar covered the mark on my left forearm. "Then I shall make it easy for you." Dumbledore lifts his arms up in surrender and Draco disarms him. His wand falls to the ground, away from the man.
The door opens and Dumbledore moves his eyes to the noise. "You're not alone, there are others." Draco is trembling and breathing heavily. I remain perfectly still, waiting for the right moment. It would be easier to kill him now, but then I fear they still won't trust me.
