Love and Silence

"Hey"

"Hello"

"Should we go to the food festival?"

"Of course, some of my friends have a stall over there. We can go together."

"Sure. I will get ready."

She is a widow. Loves her fabric dying business. She has recently created a brick orange shade fabric from mountain clay. Yes, I am updated about her life. I am a chef. I wanted to create a new menu for my restaurant. She is there at my restaurant every week to get a taste of the chef special. The most special thing is that she reviews my first try and second try. Sometimes the final try. She claims as my fan.

"I think we arrived a little early. Can I go help my friend with her stall?"

"Sure."

"There she is. Come, let me introduce her."

She is very lively. She speaks with everyone in our neighborhood. Her business is very lowkey. She does that like a hobby. I hear her hum beautiful songs while doing chores around the house. I listen to it from my garage. I get a little sneak peek through her living room window. She is always eating something. As a chef, that is convenient for me.

"Don't you do stalls?"

"Not my thing. I can eat well."

"And I can cook well."

"Well." Laughed sarcastically. She knows that I am the best chef in the town.

"What?"

"Come to my friends' stall. Give her a review."

"Why not?"

"There is a little crowd."

I walked in the stall, and so many food critics came near me. With the popularity comes the responsibility. So many people came near the stall. I was taking pictures with them and a few autographs. Lovely group of people. Her friend's' stall became a popular spot in the food festival since I came there. A name brand promotion.

"I see you are a little popular."

"Yes. I am humble that way."

"Are you kidding me?"

"You could do a lot of things with this fame. I mean, you can open so many branches. It will run successfully."

"Yes, you are right. I am just perfecting my first restaurant. I will create a branch soon."

"Yes, take your time. Glad I could taste test your menu and be a food critic."

"Thank you. You have been supportive."

I walked in on her shouting at someone over the phone, recently. I was shocked. I didn't want her to be threatened by anyone. You see, I have been seeing her for 3 years since she moved here after her husband's passing. She was a very calm, quiet girl. She was alone. No dates. No old friends. No family. Respect her privacy. As a neighbor, she calls me when repairmen come in. I wait outside till they finish it. I have been her unacknowledged guardian for these years. The comfort that comes with security is necessary for her.

"I am making lasagna today."

"Yum. What is new about it? I eat lasagna often. Give something new, chef."

"You have to take some home and review it in peace. I guarantee an out of the world texture."

"Okay, excited."

I walked into my lawn when she entered her house. I stood there watching her get in. I am not sure if I am falling for her. But for now, love and silence seem enough.
